This Cops Reaction Is UNACCEPTABLE

Columbus police say they are investigating a report that a father was told by officers that his 11-year-old daughter could face charges after he called to report that she had been the victim of an “online predator.” (AP)

While some minor things here shouldn’t be criticized but rather understood, the main problem people have with this cop is seemingly QUITE JUSTIFIED.

  1. First of all telling somebody what could happen is not threatening them,it's called telling the truth. That being said it is also called tact to not be so uncaring about such situations, all she had to do was listen to what happened. I have a feeling there is something more going on here. For those that support defund the police this is what you get.

  2. I commend the father who wanted an authority to investigate a predator. I don't have words for the female officer's course of action.

  3. i know at work (in a prison) like you said if you follow the law to a T then yes she could be charged. but im pretty sure it has to be pretty clear she initiated it and he never asked or insinuated anything. but an adult talking to a 11 year old you know damn well what his intentions are. this father took a step im not sure most of us (fathers) would have if the guy lived around us. but non the less a crime was reported of child porn and they failed to even start an investigation but rather wanted to put their opinion into it. i hope this case both the child porn and the cops IPC skills were looked into

  4. People. Police are nothing more than the king's men. They don't protect and serve us. They protect and serve the mayor/governor/administrative state. Call the police when you're in need and see how long they take to get to you. Film a government facility and see how quick they arrive to violate your 1st amendment rights. Film the mayor's house and see how quick they arrive and try to manufacture a reason to remove you.

  5. Uh, how is this news to you? Have you not came across stories of Underage boys and girls getting charged with such crimes? I have seen such stories. She literally could face charges for such, because she wouldn't be the first, probably won't be the last. Welcome to Reality and how screwed up it is. The charges of Disseminating and Producing CP. Should they face such. I think really it really depends on the situation itself, and the knowledge of the ones involved, and I do mean every variable that can be considered. Though I do think it is a good warning, that things can go very wrong fast.

  6. Based on this officer's logic, if a child touches themself inappropriately, they would be charged with sexual assault of a child.

  7. I blame the direct cause of it, the female. the other cop idk. He didnt say it, she did.
idk what side he was really on, like you thought, mike, but she clearly messed this up.

  8. This is literally victim-blaming. and on a CHILD. and children arent really mentally developed enough to sit there and make super-long lies unlike an adult politician.
I really do believe this .. man… wanted those pictures. it disgusts me to say man because im not a scumbag.
I've had police treat me as if I'm the bad guy before when I reported my backpack was stolen right in front of a grocery store.
ya ok cop my sht was stolen… and youre "investigating" … me? really? clown?
I get someone can lie or something but why tf would this kid? or me? a child being preyed on by a pedo isnt a joke. and why would i lie about MY backpack being stolen? that makes 0 fking sense, cops. and it's victim-blaming. (and idfk who even stole my bag so no it wasnt exactly some personal thing, literally a random a$$ person walking/driving by)
this video reminds me of like when a girl gets r*** and the public/cop's like "whYD yOU weAR a dResS thEN?!?!?"
    like seriously, jacka$$(es)? Clown(s)?

  9. As a dad my response to them would be I’m sorry I was hoping to resolve this the legal way I guess I’ll just have to take the law into my own hands. I’m sure the result will me more satisfactory. Thanks for your time have a nice day.

  10. Sounded to me like she wanted to kill this call. Threaten him with arresting his daughter and he'll back off on making a report. Quite unprofessional.

  11. One more instance of cops being their own worst enemy. The public is already hesitant to involve police when it may be necessary because too often they just make matters worse. Escalating situations unnecessarily, turning the caller into a suspect for no reason, take your pick but the general public are learning that cops just make things worse.

  12. I don't understand why the father didn't just tell the cops he wanted to press charges against the pedophile. That was really the right thing to communicate and he failed. The police should have advised him to not only do that but to convey to his daughter that she not only is doing something unacceptable but that it is against the law and she would not be happy in a legal situation. That she needs to just say no and disconnect. That father needs to take further measures with his daughter and not lay it all on the police. If it were me I would have told the daughter. She has lost computer privileges. Educate her on making good judgment calls. Good/stern parenting is important.

  13. She showed ZERO empathy, which empathy is CRUCIAL in police work. But then the fact she ignores that a grown adult is being reported as criminally preying upon a child!

  14. When all the anti-police stuff started happening years ago many worried the good/best would move out of LEO and those that remained might "have more issues". Add poor funding and the abundance of real video evidence you get a "perfect storm" of weekly cringe-worthy (or much worse) exposure.
I don't have the answers on how to improve things, but I know it must involve better funding and internal changes by some agency's. These changes must come from within the LEO community.

  15. It's spiritual warfare Mike! Nothing makes sense because everything is backwards just like the bible says will happen in the last days. There's coming a time that no one is coming to help you, so do the things…….!

  16. Disgusting situation handled so poorly . The calais and jaded nature of that cop is crazy . She is a young officer so to be this dead pan is just crazy to me .

  17. Im actually in the camp that maybe the context the cop meant was like a "scare straight" tactic to make the daughter stop. Idk. Maybe thats a reach because my initial knee jerk reaction was what everyone else thinks but then i thought of maybe the context is not what i think? Idk

  18. Yeah bro, all the good guys are leaving. If not retired, they are leaving too soon. Growing weary in doing good. They are being replaced by these idiots and trying to replace bodies with illegal immigrants. At least where I am currently a class B misdemeanor is a disqualification aaaaand they have no concept of constitutional rights. They want people who will violate our rights and kick your door in without cause. This was the reason for the defund the police. A bunch of good veterans left. They knew defunding the police would never happen. But, we grew weary in doing good.

  19. I wonder how many more examples like these people need to realize the police we have now are not the police we want, but the police we're left with after all the good ones either quit, got fired, or died over the past few years.
This is what youre left with when you have corrupt socially engineering

  20. The cops did exactly what they are supposed to do cops don't solve problems they seek out and create problems

  21. i seem to remember hearing something about minors sexting each other could be considered child material for distributing it as a way to stop it from being created and then the recipient spreads it when the relationship goes south or even to brag about his conquest…and once its out there, its out there and you cant control where it ends up

  22. My first thought was that the officer thought they were being called by the father to talk to the girl as sort of a "scared straight" approach. It's not that I agree with it, but in that light, the officer's comments don't seem so "weird".

  23. Ohio is a poor state and the local police departments are overwhelmed–I get it. But the initial effort of sworn officers to blow off crime reprorts is an intolerable strategy. The intimidation of a crime victim with such a threat—charging an 11-year-old girl with child porn as opposed to finding the adult male child/sex predator—is so outrageous as to call for discipline and a public outcry for a change in command and department policy. As a retired criminal law attorney, I would DARE them to do so at their peril.

  24. Could it be that this is how this officer, or these two officers, make quick work of a long stack of calls to respond to… find some legal jeopardy for the complainant, complainant drops the issue, and then move on to the next call ??
No statements to take, no evidence to collect, no waiting around for detectives to arrive, etc, etc?

  25. So, the "parent" of a child, wanted the police to do what HE is supposed to do ???
Supervising HIS own child while she is on the internet !!!
Is there no "child proofing" of the internet access, FOR HIS DAUGHTER ???
Did HE already discipline HIS daughter previously for doing that on the internet, before calling someone else to properly raise HIS daughter ???
As a former Law Enforcement guy, and having had to deal with something similar within the family, I look at it like this….if you give your child access to the stripper club down the street, don't be surprised when they start going to the stripper club that you gave them access to.
What they do in the stripper club, is what happens in stripper clubs…not in Bible study class….
And DEFINITELY NOT what you have NOT TAUGHT AND ENFORCED your child to not do.
    Be honest with yourself.
Hold yourself accountable for NOT paying attention to what your child is doing on the internet, while you don't check up on them.
If she, at 11, is sending nudes to ANYBODY…YOU HAVE DEFINITELY FAILED AS A FATHER.

  26. This is how the culture is shifting now, Mike. It's police vs. citizens. Find charges on people regardless of who is the victim and right or wrong.

  27. Technically the daughter could be charged. It's happened before though it usually happens to boys. Either ways that's wrong.

We need to put the actual creeps in jail. Not the young victims.

  28. Minors should not be prosecuted under child pornography statutes, but should be treated as a protected class under child pornography laws. That said, Ohio's child pornography and obscenity laws don't distinguish between acts committed by adults and by minors. Just like an adult, a minor can be prosecuted under these laws.

State law penalizes both sending and receiving sexual images of minors that are obscene or sexually oriented or that portray nudity. A minor can violate this law even by sexting a selfie. Now I am not an attorney but given there was an adult involved in manipulating/grooming this kid into taking/sending pictures of herself then I don't see the charges sticking.
