GIRLFRIEND FOUND IN RIVER.. Where is Tom Phifer?

The mystery of Tom Phifer’s disappearance has lingered for decades. In 1984, Tom and his girlfriend, Kay Hollis, embarked on a journey from Denver to Grand Junction, but they never reached their destination. Tragically, Kay was discovered in the river 15 days later, but Tom and their 1972 Ford Pinto remained missing.

Adventures With Purpose is dedicated to shedding light on cold cases like Tom’s, offering hope and closure to families haunted by unanswered questions. Our latest expedition took us along the Colorado River, right outside Grand Junction, where we scoured the river in search of any trace of Tom.

Our search was met with challenges. The river, a winding serpent through the landscape, presented us with areas too shallow for our equipment and conditions that tested our resolve. Despite the setbacks, we remained determined, knowing that our efforts could bring peace to a family.

We explored every possible scenario, considering the high water levels of the river at the time of Tom’s disappearance and the likelihood of the vehicle being buried under silt and debris. Our advanced sonar equipment scanned the riverbed, revealing sections deep enough to hold secrets from the past. Yet, the river kept its silence.

The search for Tom Phifer is more than a mission; it’s a testament to our unwavering commitment to those who are lost. We understand the importance of our work, not just in finding the missing but in telling their stories, keeping their memories alive, and ensuring that they are not forgotten.

As we continue our journey, we call upon you, our community, to join us. If you have any information about Tom Phifer’s disappearance, please come forward. Contact the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department or reach out to us at support@adventureswithpurpose.com. Your knowledge could be the key to solving this enduring mystery.

For those who have lost someone, know that you are not alone. If you are aware of a missing person in your community or represent an agency with a cold case, let us know. Our resources may be the beacon of hope you’ve been searching for. Submit cases to support@adventureswithpurpose.com, and help us in our quest to bring the lost back home.

We are fueled by your support, your subscriptions, and your engagement with our channel. In the spirit of our mission, we must now set our sights on the next case, carrying with us the hope that one day, the mystery of Tom Phifer will be solved.

Until then, we journey on, because every story deserves an ending.

  1. Im Born and raised in Colorado from Denver my homestate is beautiful I pray a he’s located no guard rails ever in the mountains ever I never heard of this case 39 years ago

  2. Just my input, but maybe he murdered his gf and fled. Now living a different life never to be found. πŸ€·β€β™‚πŸ€·β€β™‚

  3. Take how far she went in the water from when she was spotted to when she was recovered and do the math and it will give you a smaller search area.

  5. It amazes me how many people end up in water. Even if the road isn’t very close. Because is this show I am now super aware whenever driving along water.
Years ago my boyfriend lost his brother to water. They searched for over a month in the river and literally passed right over him many times. They stopped looking. His dad kept getting a feeling where he was in the river and begged for one more try. They found him. He had no injuries, still belted in with his phone sitting on passenger’s seat. It was a road he drove every day. But at least he was finally found. 😒

  6. When we had a flood here in northern Colorado in 2013 it uncovered cars I believe one with remains from another flood back in 1979.

  7. I’m in northern Colorado and I know the Poudre river up here changes over the years. You never know that car could have been crushed by the debris of the river when it was running high and got buried and in a area not under water anymore.

  8. 40 years in a river….how many big floods have there been since then…car probably ultimately broke apart and scattered all down stream…odds of finding it very low.

  9. 6:40 um sir did you know spiderweb tattoos on elbows has/had a meaning…? It’s like a prison meaning for uhh.. murderπŸ˜… Most tattoo meanings has died out though but some ex prisoners might think you’ve murdered someone-

Edit: Correction on the murder, it meant you got a long sentence hence the spiderweb, so could indicate murder though. But it also symbolized white supremacy in 1700s-

  10. i must admit with a situation such as this, does often make me think, one being an accident from long ago and second the under water conditions – i'd be interested how cars behave once they settle
we know from the AWP team, cars invariably float for a time, engine down and then begin to sink, will often turn right over to upside down because of inflated tires, the car at some point will have an amount of negative buoyancy, trucks behave differently to cars and so on, but where there are varying water flows and river beds, stone and mud, we have seen how old cars become battered, create a hollow on the downstream side, the car often digging in and becoming buried – but it be interesting to see the behaviour with models with many of the variables mentioned above, including how cars bury with water moving across from sides, front and rear, how the river bed changes – we know conditions will be always very different to one another, but it be nice to understand some of those variables to build an assumption of what can occur in particular river types, of course all this providing you know where the car went in, and then there's all the other variables, storms, flooding etc

  11. I just started watching you guys a few days ago I have been binge watching ❀ I want you guys to know that y’all are Amazing ❀ Definitely a Blessing to all ❀️ keep bringing them home ❀

  12. I honestly think that car might never be found… that's a long time for a car that might be crushed and rusted to dust… you are also assuming that the car wasn't pummeled apart by rocks and debris in the flood to begin with and his body didn't float down even further
