Link to (Part 1): https://youtu.be/DiLBoUzOLFs

This is part 2 of the Honda Element/CRV suspension rebuild. In this video I wrap up the suspension work, get the Element aligned, and take it for a test drive. Was it all worth it? Check out the video to find out.

Because of the depth of coverage in this video, I had to split it into 2 parts. However, if you want to see a full version without ads, it’s available to Premium Members of my website here.

  1. Great vid and very helpful.

Do you like anyone’s aftermarket front struts? I’m looking for ride quality not lowering. A small lift would be ok but not the goal.

    Thx.

  2. An addition to my 03 Element that really helped was a front and rear lift. Aerogenics 1.5” front and rear strut spacers were added to it and it has made a huge difference. I don’t off road my Element at all, the lift has given it such a stiffer and more comfortable ride.

  3. I just recently replaced the struts on my parents '04 Element and wasn't able to NOT let that axle joint separate. Though I was able to put it back together do you think I did future damage to the joint and I'm probably soon to be replacing the axles now? (IN YOUR OPINION THAT IS) 150,000 Miles boots look really good.

  4. Good day Ericl! I am thinking to invest some money into my 2003 Element and getting a new suspension for it. OEM parts are way out of my budget. Can you recommend any 3rd party brands that you trust? KYB, MONROE – seem to be a choice of many people. What would you recommend? Thank you!

  5. So apparently he put them on backwards thanks to @Aerogenics labeling them wrong the curve is supposed to be facing downward not upwards

  6. Why is it on other elements I see that Ericthecarguy has the curve part of the lower control arm facing up and other elements I see it's facing down

  7. I just installed the lower control arms on my wife’s CRV and they also had #6000 on both of them. I thought it was a serial number but maybe it’s a patent number.
My left one actually says LEFT and not LIFT, I had to go check after seeing yours 😂

  8. That trick of using the closed end of the wrench and prying helped me!!! The tie Rod wasn’t budging one but until then. Saved me another 30 minutes of struggling and research!

  9. Why do the 2003-05 Honda CR-Vs sag in the rear during acceleration? Can this be remedied with stiffer rear shocks or an upgrade of some sort? Do the elements have the same problem?

  10. Hey, what's the size of the axle nut for the front? I can't find an answer anywhere and I don't have a big enough socket. Front axle came apart while I was trying to change struts and now I gotta fix it 🤣

  11. Question- I have a 2004, 122k miles. The front strut bolts on top, the rubber is cracking around the bolt. It has not separated but I’m wondering how urgent it is to replace struts when that rubber is cracked. Also one of the bolts (passenger side) is different than the driver side. Passenger side does not have an Allen head on top like the drivers does. Which makes me think that passenger side has already been replaced once with an aftermarket. Replace? Or good to keep going? Would aftermarket struts be okay to get? Like 1A Auto or ones from Rockauto?

Love your videos as I just bought this Honda and am looking to do as much work myself.

  12. Здравствуйте!
    Мне понравилась ваше видео, супер👍
Владею ELEMENT 2003 4VD AT пробег 138 миль
    Классная машина 👍👍👍

  13. Eric you are the man. Good videos. Element rocks!! Quick question. Is the aluminum brace the one what makes the ride stiffer. Or the lower control arms have to do part of it? Would it make difference if i would just install the aluminum lower control arms only and not the brace? Would that still give some performance on the suspension?. Or is it just for show?

  14. By the way there is something about the Element that makes it really fun and enjoyable to drive ! I feel so at home in my 2008, never going to sell this vehicle, love it so much!

  15. What exactly does that center brace do, that you installed between the lower control arms in the back?

  16. what's nice on Erics end is all the training he gives to his viewers he doesn't have a trainee in the shop that he expects to do the work he would train them to do ! Isn't that cool Eric ? That's gotta be a load off your mind ! Always push the fluid back in the MC and never had a problem, I'm thinking in your case, is the proportioning valve had to be reset not your MC. Had caliper bracket bolts with lock tite and didn't tighten them enough without putting on new lock tite. Lost the bolts on the road. Bought new bolts that came with locktite. The other side that also were loose but didn't fall out. Shop just tightened the loose bolts. No issues. Nice advice about witness marks, but ummmm you cleaned the other side and painted it. Not a good reason to clean and paint area where control mounts but nice try ! Yes no impact on aluminum…. just like torque specs on aluminum rims.

  17. Hi Eric can I bring to you my 2006 Honda Element to fix all rear suspension like you Honda elemen…. Struts already replace just replace aluminum lower and upper control arm suspension like yours and alignment . Just you know all bolt and nut easy to lose because I did and put grease. Please let me know if you can do it. Thanks
