  1. I got around to watch it last year after being recommended it by my father for years. It was filmed semi close to areas my father grew up. He also would tell me that him and some of his buddies tried to audition for a role, but they were turned down due to their age (17 at the time). I really enjoyed it because it was so realistic story wise. I loved the "hidden plot devise" with revolvers. I would put it on the top of antiwar films

  2. Mike & Dave, thank you for reviewing & reminding me of this movie. That said, I can't help myself for giving Mike the "Most Butchered Word Pronunciation" Award of his podcast. At 35:32 Mike attempted to say "Macalester"(at first, I thought you were attempting to make a joke). The correct Pronunciation: mah-CAL-iss-ter. Macalester College is located in St.Paul, MN and is ranked 27 out of 443 for best National Liberal Arts Colleges. Mike, I hope you know that I mean no disrespect, and I thank you for giving me a laugh.
On a side note, I am the guy who sent you your first Karambit Knife letter opener. (mail time…those were the days)

  3. Just a joke for the algorithm.
Our son Luke loves that we named our children after star wars characters.

Our daughter, Chewbacca, not so much

  4. The Deer Hunter is one of the richest, most complex movies I've ever seen, and it was great to hear you mentioning so many of those layers. You're right, "this is this" is a profound revelation. Enjoy your continuing exploration.
