This is unedited video of the shooting of Jason Washington. The video was provided by Portland State University and shows the incident from the perspective of Officer James Dewey. A grand jury found that both Dewey and Officer Shawn McKenzie were justified in firing their weapons. A Multnomah County Grand Jury has cleared two Portland State University (PSU) officers of criminal wrongdoing in the fatal shooting of Jason Washington. Washington, 45-year-old African American Navy veteran, was shot outside an off-campus bar in the early hours of July 29 after trying to break up a fight, according to bystanders. While attempting to intervene, Washington’s personal handgun allegedly fell out of his belt holster onto the sidewalk. When a pair of PSU officers saw Washington reach down to retrieve his weapon, they shot him. Washington died on the scene. The grand jury decision, called a “not true bill,” means jurors believe both Officer James Dewey and Officer Shawn McKenzie acted lawfully “in self-defense and/or defense of a third person,” by shooting Washington. Washington is the first person to die at the hands of a PSU police officer since campus officers began carrying firearms in 2015. His death sparked protest among many in the PSU community—both students and faculty—who had long fought the university’s decision to arm its police force.

  1. Crying over a dead man you just snitched on for having a gun and were helping to stomp out how pathetic can you be

  2. when someone is unarmed and is fatally shot people get mad, when someone is actively shooting and is fatally shot people get mad it wasn’t a less than lethal shot or they were shot too many times when someone is armed and is shot people also get mad. I don’t know how it why police manager to do their job or why more sign up with that type of stress

  3. He's dead yea so I don't think there's a point to check on him sir. Yet can someone explain why they handcuff the dead or soon to be dead people

  4. Concealed carry is not the hallmark of a civilized country. Owning a gun means you are more likely to die by it or because of it.

  5. I love how the guys is like "you killed him" and "I don't even know him" but says he has a ccw. How would you know…

  6. Dude in blue got his friend killed, told him to hold his gun so he didnt do something stupid with it then got into a fight and got his buddy killed

  7. That's why I don't drink…It ain't that hard folks…
Don't hang around stupid people, Don't hang around stupid places, and Don't roam at stupid hours…and you might not have to worry about these kinds of things.

  8. Camo shirt guy got the cops involved in the first place, kicked someone in the head when they were down and then blamed the police for the shooting – unbelievable.

  9. He said it was a conceal carry and that the officers were dumb fucks OOOOHHH THE IRONY! You don't have firearms if youre drinking, dipshit.

  10. As soon as the police arrived just back up and let them do their job. Otherwise shit like this happens. Just BACK TF UP!

  11. how come when ever its a white person shot by the police weather or not they had a gun or pointed it the video always gets a ton of likes and positive comments about the police doing a good job. yet if this video was exactly the same but it was a black college student they shot then holy shit! it would be on the news they would have protests . people would be saying the cops murdered him and this video would have at least 5k down votes. smh on a personal note i don't mind watching anyone get shot if the deserved it. this dude i cant really say because the video isn't clear if he pointed it but if he did then ok good on the cops this time

  12. An accident, but an understandable accident. Your gun falls out, and the cops are all over the place in a tense chaotic situation, you do NOT touch that fucking gun again until everyone is under control.
