Burlington, Vermont — On Tuesday, January 23rd, 2024, around 3:38 p.m., the Burlington Police Department received a call from an individual stating that a male had threatened them with what appeared to be a pistol, claiming he would shoot them while pointing it at them and another individual.
Responding to the call, two officers encountered an individual matching the suspect’s description.
During their interaction with the suspect, an officer asked the suspect if they had any weapons on him. In response, the suspect swiftly reached into his pocket and retrieved an object resembling a firearm.
Reacting to the perceived threat, both officers drew their firearms and issued commands for the suspect to drop the weapon. The suspect complied, dropping the firearm, which was later determined to be a pepper ball gun resembling a firearm.
Subsequently, the suspect was handcuffed without resistance and detained.
Police did not say if he was charged with anything.
