  1. Without the added energy provided by people arriving in the US by whatever means, the real economy of working people would be shrinking. Those lower jobs of janitors, grocery workers, and starting new small businesses is keep our cities and farms going. The imaginary lines on the map and the imaginary lines of skin color and language mask the unity available to resist capitalism exploiting all of us. We face the choice between the rule of a authoritarian 1% based on lies and racism, and a coherent 99% fight based on shared need and collective labor power.
The Democratic Party leadership has already made its bed with the 1%. Strange as it may seem, it's easier to create a non-corporate third party than to make a edible pie from rotten apples.

  2. My question always now is how about a third party? The old DNC & RNC will not work. It never has in my lifetime and I do not expect that to change…

  3. My company CEO just announced that their give back for the big tax cuts is not wage increases, we can sign up to take online learning classes on their self-hosted platform, on our own time. Total bullshit.

  4. The best way to increase wages for the poor is to change the balance of supply and demand of workers. If you have a group of workers willing to work for lower wages they will take the jobs from those who expect higher wages. Corporations have been playing this game for a more than a century.

    – In the 1920's Northern corporations recruited black share croppers from the South to break the Unions and bring wages down in Northern factories. This resulted in race riots when black workers crossed picketlines.

    – Before that they brought in the Irish and Chinese to bring down wages on the railroads. Again resulting in violence and discrimination.

    – And today, as hard as it might be for some to accept, they bring in people from Mexico and Central America to lower construction and ag wages.

If there is a large supply of cheap low skilled workers the wage for those jobs falls. It is Econ 101. If you want wages to go up you need to be able to strike and not have scabs to take the jobs. You need to be irreplaceable as a worker. With high illegal immigration companies can avoid paying Social Security and Medicare and pay lower wages to the workers. No legal worker can compete.

This doesn't mean we must end all immigration but it does mean we need to be able to pick which immigrants can enter based on the needs of the labor market. Immigrants should fill the gaps not simply force out our most vulnerable workers.

You can't have open borders and high wages for the working class. It is simply impossible. You have to choose one or the other.

  5. The Democratic Party is the Party of the weak. They stood there while the republicans stole a Supreme Court pick away from Obama for a full year (2015) . You are not strong enough to be in power. Maybe grooming puppies is more your speed.

  6. At last dealing with the real issues of people…don't let the 'privileged fringe' and their concerns and diversions usurp and divert from these fundamental concerns
