Monday, August 9, marked the 155th day that nurses at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, Massachusetts, have been on strike. At the center of the strike is a concern about working conditions and staffing, specifically the high nurse-to-patient ratio that nurses, represented by the Massachusetts Nurses Association, say makes it difficult to provide safe and sufficient care to every patient. According to the union, negotiated proposals from Tenet Healthcare, the Dallas-based, investor-owned healthcare giant that owns St. Vincent Hospital, have failed to address the central staffing issue. Now, after union members rejected the latest contract offer, the hospital has announced that it is hiring permanent replacements. In this short documentary, new TRNN contributor Gino Canella reports from the picket line in Worcester.

The government needs to set ratios and not allow a private health care hold a giving name such as Saint anything. It projects they are a church group.
Nurses think they deserve the money that is stolen from the people.
This one-sided tribute video does nothing to show the real problem here. It does not illustrate how this big business union wants an inflated nurse to patient ratio in order to collect more union dues from thousands of additional nurses statewide. They lost the 2018 ballot where WE, the citizens of Massachusetts voted NO to mandatory nurse-patient limits. These nurses in this video have such attitude problems and they do not care about people. I’ve seen it first hand and I have experienced their unkindness. They have been collecting unemployment due to MA state laws around striking unions and it is sinful when they should be inside that building, working to earn their paycheck like anyone with a job or an able-body. I urge anyone to think twice before sympathizing with this callous group.
This hospital isn’t satisfied with cheating the government. They also enjoy cheating the workers.
The CEO will do anything to make sure stockholders are protected more than the people they are
supposed to serve.
Greed always overrides common sense. This is just another example.
It’s both shameful and disgusting!

If your union is that strong then seek funding from the community and lease buildings to provide care. Hire administration and doctors as a collective and implore the community for support if you say you can do it better then prove it. But can you do it without $15 cotton swabs?!?!?! Because that is what you all have been guilty of selling to your patience for decades! Be better if you say you're better.
