That's why it's time to vote green party candidates independent candidates both Democrat and Republican are not for the people
The Tech Roaches are destroying Seattle! The sad thing is Seattle has been completely over run by these self absorbed Corporate pricks and is now mostly a lost cause. There is no rent control and few safety nets if you're low income. 150,000 have been forced south since the early 2000's. Too bad there are not more activists and more radically minded people left in Seattle. The cites on the west coast are pretty much over and it's heartbreaking. Once the wealthy move in they buy out the local gov and there is no taking it back.
This is Class Conquest which is well beyond Class War, Fight back and go out with a bang!
A big ditto Honolulu
This will not end as long as the people in charge are elected. Elections, by their nature, put in power people who are rich and famous themselves or are beholden to the rich and famous (or both). The Sawants of this world are very much the exception and always will be. The notion that elections are a democratic mechanism is quite possibly the greatest deception of the modern era. It is daily disproved and yet people still keep the faith. Time to face the facts – elections are an oligarchical, anti-democratic mechanism.
There is a democratic alternative: sortition – government by jury. Government by normal, average people, for normal, average people.
I'm about to pick up ansld head to Seattle
Stating that increasing homelessness is a manifestation of increasing rent is stating the obvious. Why is rent continuously increasing, answer that question perhaps.
We need more Kshamas.
An ideal pairing – Bernie and Kshama 2020.
Kshama will be voted out next election. She tried to ruin the city. The homeless problem is not about affordable housing. its about drug addicts that choose to shoot up instead of work. its about the city not enforcing laws and allowing drug addicts to camp on the streets and shoot up in public. By allowing this drug addicts have flooded the streets of seattle from all over the nation because they can come here and do whatever. This bill was a shakedown with no plan or thought.
That sound's like "a neo-liberal prison"..God Bless her.
It also merits pointing out that Sawant has advocated for upzoning single-family households and increasing density in general, both of which need to happen in addition to social housing construction, and both of which the wealthy tend to oppose. http://www.cityartsmagazine.com/debate-debate-housing-crisis/

The richest country in the world with half the population living in poverty, a homeless crisis and the largest prison population in the world. Capitalism is working.
City council are shills except the two who didn't vote for this repeal. This is especially true if Mayor Durkan. Shoulda been Nikita Oliver😒
My banker sister told me the head tax is bad for the city. My thought apparently the homeless are not part of the city smh. Two right wing parties is not cutting it
Love this woman. Great leader.
Descent Woman ! Proper channel
Seattle has the 3rd worst homelessness situation of cities in the US. What FOX airheads are advocating is the Houston solution that resulted in the massive flooding there due to extremely lax zoning and building codes, etc., which is exactly what Seattle does not need. In fact, Houston has acknowledge the slap in the face that the hurricane gave them that would have been bad enough had Houston had Seattle's level of regulations.
Yup!
