Continuing our deep dive into the disappearance of 70-year-old Florida middle school teacher, Robert “Bob” Heikka, we revisit the tale of a mystery that lasted over two and a half years.

Driving home from Orlando in his 2012 white Chevy Impala, Bob mysteriously vanished in the early hours of October 25, 2020. Despite the tireless efforts of the local police and the FBI, he remained missing until April 9, 2023, leaving his quiet Waters Edge community, and his students at Creekside Middle School in a prolonged state of anticipation.

In the second part of this documentary, we step into Bob’s world, guided by the narratives of his neighbors in the peaceful community where he lived. These homes are separated by serene ponds and navigated by roadways that, in a tragic twist of fate, become the focal point of our story. As the tire marks of Bob’s Chevy Impala, license plate KRZI78, are discovered, suspicion falls upon these seemingly harmless bodies of water.

Undeterred by previous searches that have turned up fruitless, our team, along with local residents, probed each pond in the neighborhood. Equipped with sonar technology and a deep-seated resolve, we navigated waters that reached depths of up to 12 feet, searching tirelessly for any sign of Bob’s vehicle.

The thoroughness of our investigation is further illuminated as we recount the painstaking process of ruling out all the possible bodies of water near Bob’s house and at the entrance of the neighborhood. Emotions ran high as we dove into the depths of these waters, often a beacon of peaceful serenity for the Waters Edge community, now harboring a dark uncertainty.

Toward the climax of our search, we explore a specific location that catches our attention – an intersection where a car had previously lost control and plunged into the pond. Our hopes rise as we navigate the waterway, using sonar technology that casts a net of 75 feet in every direction, scanning the smooth bottom of the pond for any sign of Bob’s car.

But the car wasn’t in these waters. Over two years had passed since Bob’s disappearance, and his whereabouts remained a mystery. The path to discovery eventually led by another dedicated volunteer search team finally spotted Bob’s car. The discovery, heartbreaking as it was, provided some closure, offering answers to a community that had waited over two years for a resolution.
