I always thought that Thanksgiving was what the Native Americans were TRYING to teach the pilgrims. I thought that it was the Native Americans who, in showing open and welcoming arms, that they were showing one of their fall rituals which were giving thanks for the abundance of the seasons, that which Mother Nature gave to them. I don't trust my own government because, for one thing, it's too big for itself. It's a giant machine that doesn't know what most of the rest of the machine is doing.
