The pollution and destruction of habitat for the infrastructure alone are enormous, and it will be used for a few weeks, after which, the glamours concrete and steel buildings will go unused, turning into an eyesore, as nature consumes them. Then you have holidays. How much carbon pollution is generated by Christmas, Easter, insert any holiday on earth, all of which could be celebrated differently, or not at all… No, humans just are not serious about deferring or preventing our near term extinction
