  1. Only members of congress should be eligible to be Speaker of the House.
To allow a nonmember of congress to be Speaker would only create more chaos than we currently have, I believe. Neither of the two big parties look all that stable or trustworthy.
Trump shouldn't be running for anything, to be honest.
He's in his 70s, the Cursed Mummies Club of Washington, and we've already been shown by both Democrats and Republicans alike why we need age and term limits for all politicians.
We shouldn't allow anyone 65 or over to run for public office anywhere in this country.
Make them retire and end politician lifetime pay and benefits. They're too expensive to keep up, and they aren't worth it anyway.

  2. No. They cannot be nominated outside of the house.

Article 1 section 1: All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.

The speaker of the house, as an officer of the house has legislative powers, and therefore must have belonged house of representatives.

  3. GQP noise, they are just ramping themselves up for yet another crushing disappointment. This isn't the first time they've had this wet dream.

  4. The votes it will take to elect Trump speaker are enough to change all the house and Republican caucus rules that apply. It’s done if Trump wants it and the GOP can’t survive without him now.

  5. As a non-member, he won’t be blocked by rules concerning members. Gaetz has set Trump up to be lawfully elected into national office next week. The novelty of it is awesome.

  6. You actually want a convicted fraudster with no principles to be the speaker??? That's why a basic education is important… especially in america 😂

  7. The answer is yes they can but they cannot be under indictment according to GOP rules and the law governing the speakers position
