I bought this clean title, nice condition, Supercharged Audi S4 and got a great deal at auction because of a transmission issue. I figured it would be easy, but it seems the DSG in these cars are a little more finicky then you might think, and we get a little surprise when we drop the fluid…

  1. @3:50 – That's a key, you simply didn't put it the right way. It's a 3rd key totally(because a new car comes with two keys, one general, 2nd is spare), and that is the 3rd key or the 2nd spare key (depending how you look at it) that consists of two parts, one is a small key that came with the manual, and the other is the body that is inside the glove compartment side, you have to put them together like an actual mini treasure hunt and puzzle solving thing. You can open doors and turn on the car as well.
But you are not that clever I see.

  2. HI, I was wondering if you ever had any issues with either Ferrari or the Aston? I thought if anything you’d be honest to say don’t buy.
    Thank you

  3. amazing these youtubers buy a car sight unseen with problems and fix it for pennies. Everyone I know buys are secondhand car, checked it out, told it runs fine and the car turns to a lemon. Lucky shits!

  4. I’m getting a transmission malfunction not gearbox malfunction and it’s throwing up a code p281c would the circuit board replacement work for me

  5. Hey Sam, I tell you what, those Carly guys are such scammers, I purchased the unit because of this video and in the fine print the dodgy buggers took $226 a year later without any notice make it almost impossible to cancel the subscription and refuse to do a refund.

Not happy – I hope you don’t support these guys anymore !!!!

  6. 500 cheaper than 5000. Makes sense to change it for change the transmission like without a transmission to change the fluid to filter before you change the transmission

  7. i had an A4 once. It was turbocharged. Fast car. Had the nasty habit of lights going out while driving. pretty scary going down interstate at 70 mph. passing a semi on a bridge and your lights go out. Car had electrical issues till the day I got rid of it.

  8. These cars are very fun and very easily modded. I've had an S5 (same engine, Trans, platform) for 3 years now. If you are interested in purchasing one, avoid 2013 and 2014 model years-they have dsg issues like this. Expensive fix. Get a pre-purchase inspection. Make sure all maintenance has been done on time and by a reputable shop. These cars are more high maintenance but they pay you back in safety and enjoyability 😁 the driving experience is unlike many other brands out there, and like nice things, it does cost more.

  9. Please please name these as PART 1, PART 2, PART 3 and so on. It would be nice to follow these in chronoligical order which is quite hard at the moment.

  10. This is potentially a simple mechatronik sleeve leaking and shorting out the mechatronik. Can be fixed by unplugging battery, then taking out mechatronik and replacing the sleeve, cleaning the circuits on the unit and the connectors. Most likely the circuit board is fine.

  11. Actually Advance Auto Parts sells what they call recharged batteries for around $42 you might want to check then out, or Carquest is the same thing.

  12. As soon as he drove it away you could already tell it lost sub-box 1 just from the low revs. I have a B8 A4 with this gearbox this video is giving me fuckin flashbacks to all my trans issues lol. The diagnosis at 14:44 was sorta wrong because reverse is on sub-box 2, which also has 2,4,6 (reverse is "0" gear I guess lol), if it was starting in 1st you woulnt have reverse. The low revs on start is heaps of clutch slip from starting in 2nd gear, the upshift at 15:15 is a dead giveaway that you only have even gears because under low throttle, 4th always engages at 40kmh~ (25mph) which is exactly where it shifts in the video. The circuit board that was buggered controls the shift selector solenoids which move the gear selector forks. Solenoid 3 controls the 5-7 selector fork. The reason it goes limp mode is because if you cant control where the selector forks are, if you closed the clutch pack to subbox 1 you wouldnt be able to control whether 5th or 7th or neither were selected so best case, they are in neutral position and those gears are unavail, worst case one of them is engaged and the gearbox tries to engage 1st or 3rd and mangles the gears or synchros.

  13. Of course it would not touch a C4 Corvette! They are different cars!! I don't compare these to cars that are JUST sports cars!! That is because although these Audis are quick as heck, they are really also a luxury car! Besides, one is a German car and one is American. Neither one is bad by any means but remember they are different. It is not like Camaros and Corvettes are the only quick cars there are!! People like them because they are good and they have a good chance of getting one without promising their first born or selling their soul!!

  14. Not only did Audi AG delete the Tremec manual 6-speed from the S and RS cars, but they did a very VAG thing….put in an automatic that is more complicated and troublesome. Did they ever meet a dashboard service prompt they didn't like? Its like they're seeing how much pain can a car dole out? Makes me think of JAWS…we're gonna need a bigger dashboard!
