Why it’s IMPORTANT to use the Correct Air in Your Tires (Summer & Winter Air)!

I show why is it important to not only fill your tires up to the correct pressure but also use the CORRECT AIR! Learn how to replace winter air, with summer air!

Most people know when filling your car or truck tries that you need to fill it to the correct air pressure. What people dont know, is the air that goes into the tires is just as important. Winter air is cold, dry, and dense, therefore heavy while summer air is warm, humid, and light. Running winter air in the summer will cause lower tire pressure and decreased fuel economy (mpg). Running summer tire in the winter, will cause loss of traction and over inflated tires which could lead to a blow out!

  1. Ok obviously this is just a joke but there is a tiny grain of truth to it. Pressure changes with temperature, and a lot of people don't realize that when air gets colder, the pressure goes down, and then end up driving all winter with low tires…which contributes a lot of poor traction in the snow, ice, or even rain, and crashes (this is assuming you use all season tires and don't have different sets for summer and winter).

A lot of people also don't realize that you are supposed to check tire pressure when the tires are at ambient temperature when the car hasn't been driven for several hours…if the car has been driven the pressure will read higher and you could accidentally underinflate your tires if you set it to the correct value when they are hot.

TL;DR – check your tire pressure often, and be prepared to add air in the winter, and remove some when it starts to warm up.

  2. Love the scientifics about the airs . I will carry the winter air can from now on in case. Great videos saves gas and thank you 👍

  3. I work in transportation, a Procurement officer asked me if I knew about this . He told me it is a thing he watched the video and I should look in to it . I watched it, I couldn’t believe they where selling this . Glad I watched till the end . You could market this and make millions I’m sure !

  4. I should have known when he didn’t check the pressure level after he inflated the tire with the can of gas lol or that it was posted on April 1st but who checks the post date on old videos

  5. bro y'all did such a good jobs bullshitting the first few mins. I wonder how many people clicked off after a couple mins and actually went to the mechanic to swap it lol

  7. Chris, I have a 97 silverado 5.7l, It died, I changed spider injector, to mpfi, then no spark, i did smell plastic burning, changed my crank sensor, it starts now, but idles rough, wont run right on the street, P0102 MAF sensor, changed that, still the same, any ideas?

  8. But wait, that's 30psi for cold air. What's the pressure for warm air? And what's the shelf life on that air? Can I buy it in bulk?

  9. Thanks for the video Chris, it’s very helpful! I have a question though. I live in a tropical country, do you know when I should change the air in my tyres? Or should I maybe just run one of them and not change?

  10. Your April fools videos are hilarious but they actually are informative to help people who know nothing about cars not get screwed over by shady mechanics.

  11. This is an actual thing colder air means that ur tyre pressure light might come on if u filled air in summer and if u did in winter then in the summer the pressure will increase
