How to Check Fuel Injector Resistance with a Multimeter

Using a Multimeter to Test Fuel Injector Resistance Ohms. Learn how to check fuel injectors to make sure they are working. You use a multimeter on the resistance settings and measure the ohms of the injector. All injectors should be within .5 ohms of each other. If an injector is out of the resistance specification, that injector is bad.
Symptoms of bad injectors are a check engine light with codes P0300 through P0308, misfiring, hesitation, poor fuel economy, stalling, and a poor idle.

  1. All my resistance measured the same, I have volt in my fuel injector connection. I don’t have a misfire code. Just a p0201. Should I replace the injector anyway?

  2. so what happens if you have lets say 15ohms injectors and replace them all with 12ohm ones?. Would the engine still run?.

  3. Chris I measured them one day and had different readings each! I test them again the next day and were all the same! Any ideas?

  4. Also watch out for slow climbing reading if reading takes long to reach stable it is also likely a bad injector another check to do just to figure out what's actually failing is measure from each terminal to injector bodies sometimes it can be the internal wires have shorted to body if no reading across any terminal than there is likely a break in the wire hope this helps.

  5. Christ this got to be an old video because we cannot see the numbers on the meter… YOU KNOW YOU MAKE THE BEST YOUTUBE AUTOMOTIVE HOW TO VIDEOS IN VIDEOS STEP BY STEP IN THE THE WORLD BRO !😊

  6. Bro thank you. I keep getting a very annoying p0303 on my tacoma. Giggles and you can feel the misfire. I changed out the coils and spark plugs but the code keeps popping up every once in a while when I erase it. Gonna try this when I have a chance.

  7. 😮 Holy Smokes‼️
Dude… 👻🙌🫶🤝🤜🤘👏👏👏Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!!!
I have been trying to figure out how to test the injectors… #3 specifically… on 2002 Lexus ES 300 with the VVI V6 …🥺😫😩 If You Know… You Know!!!
The head engineer of the this model… Must have caught his wife cheating with a mechanic⁉️ Having to take the entire top of the engine & everything attached to this …. just to change the spark plugs…😩 There just can’t be another answer… Right⁉️😁😂😂

It Absolutely Works Great 👍 Now I that #3 is bad and all I have to do now is…😩 Take the entire top of motor off, the vacuum system, the air box, the… 🥹

    Thanks Again… I’m a subscriber now!!! 🫶

  8. Ah yes. The CEN-TECH multimeter. I remember the good old days when Harbor Freight Tools gave them away for free with ANY purchase. I have 9 of them. 😆

  9. Great video. Can bad injectors cause car to go into intermittent limp mode? Especially when accelerating from a stop light. Thanks

  10. Well crap lol the resistance of like 4 out of 6 are out of spec I guess cause they are out 0.4-0.6 ohms variance

  11. Thanks! I was getting read to remove my injector rails and swap injectors to troubleshoot if injector 4 is bad due to misfiring.
This will save me that time and I can quickly check resistance.

  12. You are truly a master Chrisfix, you've made me quite proficient in automechanics over the past 5 years.. truly thankful for your tutoring, you are the best.

  13. You forgot to mention that injectors are either high impedance or low impedance. A low impedance injector will have a resistance of around 2.5 to 3 ohms, while a high impedance injector will fall somewhere around 12-18 ohms. Good simple video on how to check 😎

  14. I think one of my fuel injectors is bad because of an occasional cylinder misfire. Good to know I can test the injectors to make sure

  15. 3 injectors on my car are at 11-12 ohms at spec. One was miss-firing and read 18 ohms. In cylinder 3. According to that reading on that injector , is it a bad injector even at 18 ohms ?
