1. A very common issue with these BMW's is that the battery is in the trunk. The wiring for the alternator to the engine and ecu is all under the engine bay, but there is a "junction box" by the driver's strut tower that connects the alternator back to the battery. The bolts that hold these cables in place can work loose (or perhaps be left loose when a painter was painting the engine bay…) and the battery will mysteriously stop charging. A simple fix that is difficult to diagnose.

5. A alternator needs input to create charge ide be checking that bmw get input into alternator fro dash remove input wire feed 12v into alternator quick easy check

18. Sweet job done on this flood damaged m3 looks great mags are splendid and I agree with changing the rear lights removing the horrible black paint on the bonnet

20. I think it's the plug to the ecu . or the ecu . most people forget some cars uses the ecu to controll the battery charging voltage

23. I love M series BMWs and Alpena(s) they make such great lawn ornaments. Modern Mercedes Benz make great paperweights too . . . if you don't mind the oil and coolant stains.
