Palm Desert, California — On Sunday, December 10th, 2023, at 2:45 a.m., deputies assigned to the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to the 49,000 block of State Highway 74 for a report of a burglary in progress. The reporting party told dispatch she was hiding in her bedroom because there was an unidentified man inside her residence whom she believed was armed. Deputies arrived and located an open door to the residence. They announced themselves and made entry. Once inside, deputies encountered a compliant male who was detained without incident.

After detaining the male, a female, armed with a knife, walked out of a back room and into the hallway. The female suspect was instructed to drop the knife, but instead she threw it at the deputies and a deputy-involved shooting occurred. After the suspect was struck by gunfire, deputies rendered medical aid until paramedics arrived. She was then transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The suspect was identified as 53-year-old Kelly Lynette Cronn, a resident of Palm Desert. The suspect was arrested for two counts of assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer. Cronn was armed with a knife bearing an eight-inch blade.

Should you really shoot someone that throws a knife at you? Once they throw the knife, they've disarmed themselves so they're no longer a deadly threat.
I don't know, I think with the wrong DA these guys could get themselves hung up pretty bad. Remember a police involved shooting is broken down millisecond by millisecond. When she was standing there with the knife in her hand, yes, she was a deadly threat. Once she released the knife, whether dropping on the ground or throwing it at the officers, she is now an unarmed subject who is not a deadly threat. Unless she's got mad knife skills and throws it like a professional knife thrower, her throw is useless. But at the same time she disarmed herself.
I'm not necessarily saying the officers were wrong. I'm just saying that kind of scenario can get you in a lot of hot water.

Weird how both officers and the male were all closely together when she throws the knife, but the charges are only for throwing it at the officers. Guess the male doesn't get justice for this one? How scary for him. Obviously she set this up and he had no idea what was happening. But he was cuffed, face down on the floor, and completely helpless. And in more danger than those officers. But no charges for attempted murder for him. Not ok

Seattle decided that anything over a certain caliber was "too much force for police", which caused them to pull all the shotguns from the shops, depriving police of shotguns. The shotgun is the most likely to stop an attacker and still have a survivability rate that's high enough that immediate first aid can greatly improve the survival rate of those shot. IDK if it's still their policy, but we need to rethink all the rethinking on policing. It got this way for a reason, and not necessarily the made up reasons that some people say it did.

Break dance now!” Just like the cops on Don’t be a menace to society while drinking your juice in the hood.
