Six Oklahoma City Police Officers Fire at and Miss Suspect Pointing Gun

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma — On April 12, 2024, OKCPD officers responded to the 200 block of SE 54th St. in reference to a man outside shooting a gun. When officers arrived, it was determined the man was inside of 243 SE 54th St. Officers were in a position of cover when they called the man out of the residence. The suspect, later identified as 59-year-old Juan Castorenna-Guerrero, exited the residence with a gun in his hand. Officers gave Castorenna-Guerrero verbal commands to drop the gun. He did not drop the gun, so an officer deployed a 40mm less lethal round toward him.

Castorenna-Guerrero then raised his firearm and pointed it at officers. Six officers discharged their firearms toward the suspect. He retreated back into the residence. After several minutes, Castorenna-Guerrero exited the residence without the firearm and surrendered to officers. He was not struck by the officers’ gunfire. He was arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on four counts of pointing a firearm. The six involved officers have been placed on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. There were no other injuries reported.

  2. I’m amazed by how poorly some, whose life depends on their being accurate and effective with weapons, can’t shoot well. Studies show that, in combat the first time, weapons are fired effectively by less than 15% of the combatants. Now that number increases greatly in relation to the training and skill of the combatants ie: SEALs or Force Recon, Rangers etc. Some soldiers just don’t want to kill. Period. That said, this bunch of police either fired while he was protected by cover which is a waste, or can’t shoot well. That was a lot of lead down range for no hits.

  40. 6 officers shot, and missed all of the shots 😮‍💨🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️. Similar to the Dexter reed situation here in Chicago, 5 officers fired 96 rounds and only hit him 13 times 🤦🏽‍♂️. It’s a sad state in today’s law enforcement. They need to really get some training and take that arrogance away from the badge. I can confirm that a high percentage of law enforcement and military can not shoot. I have stood side by side with them at the range and have saw their performance. I’ve even offered free advice and help and they declined it. All I can do is hope and pray for the best for them.
