Will Congress approve future Ukraine aid?

The spending bill President Biden signed minutes before the government shutdown deadline on Saturday did not include funding for Ukraine. The president wants Congress to rectify that — but how much aid could be approved in the Republican-led House is unclear. Elise Labott, professor at the American University School of International Service, joins CBS News to discuss how the spending debate in Washington could impact the battlefield.

  1. No more money to corrupt Zelenskyy and the government of Ukraine. No more 10% for the big guy.

  2. Of course they will, but they shouldn't. This is a European war, EU should be funding it.
EU has tariffs on American goods and constantly attacks American Tech Industry

  3. If politicians are more concern about other countries prior to Americans, we need to vote them out and buy them an one way ticket there.

  4. Many commenters are under the impression that fighting Russia in Ukraine is not beneficial to Americans. Guess who our nukes are trained on? Russia and China, the worlds most powerful dictatorships. We cannot afford a direct confrontation with either, but we can and should do everything we can to weaken them and hasten their implosion. Putin fears Ukraine because he no longer has a mini dictator ruling there. The biggest danger for a dictatorship is a nearby, prosperous democracy, exactly Putin’s nightmare. We can pay for Ukraine now, a pittance of our foreign aid budget, or we can pay later when Putin bullies the next neighbor. Oh, and China’s watching to see how serious we are about protecting our allies ie Taiwan (where all are semi-conductors come from).

  5. Russia has been warning about the expansion of NATO and yet this fools decide to challenge that. That’s their mistake let them learn from it.

  6. Americans need to understand… these rubes talking about giving more to Ukraine are clueless…. EVERY DOLLAR that is given to Ukraine, or anything else, is BORROWED MONEY and YOU, the TAXPAYERS, are in DEBT to repay all of it… in addition to the $32 Trillion that's already been borrowed.

  7. They just got rid of one "Yay" for the Ukraine, Kevin McCarthy. Now, let's start removing the others and keep the "Yays" for AMerica first!

  8. Americans cannot protest their leaders. They keep them occupied same with th Roman Empire until they collapse from within. They took the power away from the people. They dont know that if they protest they can change whats happening. Remember vietnam war?! History will repeat itself roman empire collapse 2.0

  9. Democrats against the Iraqi war they said democrats think afghan retreat was handled good now they want to fund a losing war on borrowed money America can’t afford enough is enough
