The call for prison abolition has been popularized over the last decade of popular movements against police violence, many of which have operated under the banner of Black Lives Matter. But what does abolition mean, and who gets to define it? Thus far, much of the conversation has been steered and curated by mainstream media. A new initiative from Scalawag Magazine tentatively titled ‘Project Abolition’ seeks to disrupt the dominant narrative by platforming voices from within prisons themselves. Scalawag Editor-At-Large Da’Shaun Harrison joins Rattling the Bars to explain Project Abolition.

I stopped watching the second I heard you have pronouns.
It matters because some of them are tortured. Tortured with solitary 24 hour lockdown. White room torture. Cold room torture. Being strupped naked for months and having opposite sex prisoners walk around their cell to humiliate them. Beating them down once a week. And that guy i know who went through all this was innocent.

The lack of scrutiny over prisons for profit is deliberate because politicians on both sides are heavily invested in them, remember trumplethinskins Attorney General was 1 of highest investors in the country. They have have a 75% minimum occupancy and if they are below that # they are still paid by that level.
There is only 1 oppressed community, humanity & when u identify as they them, you are confused & need to seek help.
