The popular forces of Colombia have been at odds with the forces of their state for decades. Yet this year on May Day, crowds of people mobilized not in opposition to their government but in support of its labor reforms and efforts to produce a lasting peace. Swept into power last year in the aftermath of a popular uprising, President Gustavo Petro and Vice President Francia Márquez have prioritized an agenda to reform the country and build power for working people and oppressed groups such as Afro-Colombians and Indigenous peoples. While conservative elements continue to obstruct this agenda from within the state, the new administration is turning to popular mobilizations such as the ones on May Day to sustain momentum. TRNN reports on May Day from Cali, Colombia, one of the cities hit hardest by the crackdown against anti-government protests in 2021 by the previous Ivan Duque administration.

  5. Who support Gustavo Petro?? Humm not anymore: his base put 40% votes, the rest were another voters from the 100 parties we have, they decided to change the vote
    Now they are dissatisfied and disappointed
    He won’t win again, that is for sure

  10. Stop selling false information. The majority of Colombians do not support Petro.

    When he was elected, only 51% of all Colombians supported him, now that he has demonstrated how nefarious he is, it's only about 30% of people who are still supporting him. He's increasingly become unpopular.

    I used to trust this YouTube channel, unfortunately, this biased report opened my eyes.

  19. An old ex buddy of mine, who is from Colombia, is a vial capitalist and rich person, a real piece of work. Inherited most of the money he has. He hates all socialists and wishes harm on the continent, he's filled with the US propaganda lies of the region, he supports the overthrowing of any Latin American countries. Basically, he is a p.o.s.!
    Naturally I quit talking to him, he's a piece of white trash. I will not put up with people who hate others, never!
    I wish Petro all the best, hope he can clean out the rotten rich bastards who keep their countries down and want to join the lies of the US.
