The United Nations is raising concerns about a surge of executions in Iran, according to a new report. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres brought concerns over the use of capital punishment in Iran to the UN General Assembly.A total of 419 people were executed by the Iranian government during the first seven months of 2023. Amini died in the hospital under mysterious circumstances after Iranian police say she suffered a heart attack while under arrest for not wearing a hijab.
