Alfred de Zayas says the UN Human Rights Council’s report on Venezuela left out essential aspects in its otherwise damning report on Venezuela because the council has increasingly fallen under the sway of the demands of the US government

  1. The real questions are: are we as civilised as we pride ourselves to be?
Does the UN still work, or is it functioning as it should?
Isn't it time for us to start looking for a solution to the present United Nations structure?

  2. Professor de Zayas epitomises precisely the level of objectivity that should serve as the foundation upon which any and all matters associated with the UN's Human Rights Council, must be moored.

  3. You have a country with a climate and history of agriculture…but are blaming the famine on sanctions…what a simple minded joke you people are. How about the land redistribution..the government controlled economy that limited free enterprise..so only the govt had control over all aspect of the supply chain? It is always the same story with you socialist….your failure is because of others not being nice. Hey if the system that you prefer is so weak and easily destroyed….as you claim…maybe that system is fatally flawed and not strong enough to survive…ya think?

  4. Don't be shocked this is litterally a sport to the US . They laugh at the missery they cause remember hillary when they killed gaddafi ? She was belly laughing to the cnn reporter inbetween filming . This is everyday behaviour from them . They believe they are a supreme country and are sick and tired of the world not bowing to them . They need to go .

  5. Excellent interview; very welcome. All countries, govts, supporting the sick US/Washington-imposed sanctions must stop doing this. Alfred says that in 2018, alone, the sanctions caused the deaths of 40,000 or so Venezuelans. That's psychopathic mass murder! Washington must cease being a ROGUE govt. It's been that for far too long now, in Central/South America, and in plenty of other places. Etc.

  6. What is being done to Venezuela is a form of unethical economic terrorism on behalf of the Koch Brothers that used their dark money to bribe politicians like Rubio, to create imperialism policies to take over Venezuela's resources.. mainly oil, for the Koch's plant in Texas….

The United States has become a scourge on humanity, made up of greedy oligarchs that control the peoples Democracy with dark money bribery to create war and imperialism for the Industrial military complex Profits, and set up these tyrannical policies….These are close shadows of Stalin's inhumanity…..The world has to stand up to these unethical interventions….These expansive crimes are a cancer on the world that needs to be stopped… We need ethical leadership….. God Speed to Bernie Sanders and Jeremy Corbin…We need you both.

  7. First they claim that American sanctions caused the crisis (a lie ) then they claim that American sanctions against PDVSA which started in 2019 caused the catastrophe. Socialists never take responsibility when their system goes to the toilet.

The hyperinflation started years ago, the goods shortages started years ago , the blackouts started in 2015.

  8. if there is hunger and misery in Venezuela, and because of the UN in not opposing the United States and the European Union, truth be told, The United Nations is far from being an organization of the United Nations, it is more for the organization of the nations sold, or the organization of the bitches' nations, who wag their tail to wherever the US wind blows.

  9. I have lived to see my peace-keeping Canada turn into a terrorist and conqueror state that serves corporations rather than it's citizens.

Terrorism is the application of force/terror(deprivation of basic human needs in this case), on non-combatants to the point where they overthrow their government and/or it's policies.
It's sometimes used by smaller groups that can't fight large standing armies head on but in this case, It's the large standing armies and economies that are using it while simultaneously claiming to be the "heroes/good guys".
One cannot starve non-combatants(especially children, the sick & the elderly) to death and realistically/honestly claim oneself good and ethically superior to one's "enemies".

A full declaration of war would be more honorable than these hypocritical tactics…I'm constantly reminded of a Shakespeare quote:" I clothe my naked villainy with odd old ends stol'n out of holy writ and seem a saint when most I play the devil."

  10. Why is it so hard for the majority of Americans to see that the US government is starving out Venezuela with draconian and illegal sanctions while pretending to be trying to help Venezuela?!

  11. Do I get this right? The UN is now trying to bamboozle Venezuelans into accepting "assistance" from the parties who have caused most of the misery in the first place????
Of course, the "assistance" comes with obligations to hand over the control of resources. The UN should be the agency to prevent such blackmail.

  12. It's the same violation in Israel against Gaza and the West Bank. There is little doubt the Trump Administration comes down on the side of sanctions and the civilian deaths they cause. We had the same thing with Clinton and his sanctions against Iraq. The United Nations are a whipping boy for the U.S.

  13. Everyone knows that the problems Venezuela has are 100% orchestrated by the US fucks. Poor people. Perhaps Russia or China should station nukes there to deter the yanks.

  14. It is a relief that there i s real humanists such as Dr. de Zayas to challenge USA empire puppets (Bachellet, Almagro, Human Rights Watch among manyn others)

  15. There'll be MORE DEAD FROM FAMINE and SICKNESS before Gold and/or Silver Raises up to @ least $3000. LISTEN @ POWELL!
There's more middle class, and POOR people here in USA! Trump WILL be SELECTED FOR 2020 PRESIDENT, and He will Give AMERICA EXACTLY WHAT IT DESERVES (THE RICH ,WILL BE RICHER, THE MIDDLE-CLASS AND POOR-POORER) "DON'T TOUCH THE OIL AND THE WINE"! HEHEHE
HE'S RICH,AND THE ONLY THING THE POOR CAN DO FOR HIM IS (LET HIM KEEP HIS FEET UPON THEIR NECKS )DON'T TOUCH THE RICH (POOR-ROBBING) BOYS!
    ****************************
~ IT'LL BE INTERESTING ( IN NEXT 2 YRS) TO HEAR HOW THE MIDDLE CLASS AND POOR CAUCASIANS COMMIT SUICIDES! BECAUSE they're to IGNORANT to See "HE'S SELLING DREAMS" THAT'S NEVER GONNA COME TRUE!! HEHEHE,
    ESPECIALLY WITHOUT A WAR!!
AS for the DEMON-CRATES, "NEITHER OF THEM ARE ANY BETTER", NONE OF THEM!!(AMERICA IS ALREADY SICK,,PHYSICALLY, SPIRITUALLY, AND IN FINANCIAL POVERTY)AND THEY WILL OPEN UP THE BORDER , ANNNNND ABOLISH ICE!
MY HOPE IS IN "THE ALMIGHTY CREATOR", YAH!

  16. Venezuela sent 500 k of barrels a day to the Koch plant on the Texas shores to their refinery. They donated 300 million to trumps 2020 campaign. Rex Tillerson, was trumps sec of state. Who is Rex Tillerson? Major shareholder of exon gas. Whom got their oil from VENEZUELA. BOOM. mystery solved.

  17. Nothing has been learned from the Clinton administration, when he placed sanctions on Iraq. Obama did the same with Venezuela, fast forward to tRump's own criminal administration, his continued use of sanctions, against the people of Venezuela and Iran. Nothing more than sociopaths.

  18. Where is part 1 of 2? I miss a lot of the Real News Network, because of the change in title for the parts.

  19. The U.N. has more power than it thinks if they can get around biased U.S. members, decisions that can make the world news condemning interference would translate to economic isolation, putting political pressure on the aggressive countries involved. Vetting U.N. councils is needed and published to expose those who are being blackmailed or pressured to be proxied to inhumane choices.

  20. Not one word about Venezuela being an intelligence dictatorship with the 40% most educated people hoarding all of the land, wealth and control over the economy. For the solution is simple, land reform, nationalize the banks and a 70% tax on the rich.

  21. WTF. The U.S. government starves the Venuzalian people to save them. It reminds me of when they caused the death of 500 thousand Iraqi children late last century. Madeleine Albright just shrugged it off. What scum runs America.

  22. So it seems that the UN Human Rights representatives are hypocrites, prejudice and bias that only serve special interest. When it comes to the truth, I am convinced that they are cowards that are easily bullied by those in power. They have no consciousness or back bone, pure slime of the Earth! It is good to know who they are so they can be remembered as infamous low lives.
