The US hoped Putin would be a dumb a s s just like Yeltsin. Nope.
I believe the "sober Yeltsin" comment came at the time of the Yukos affair… a strategic oil company taken from the hands of a adherent of American PRIMACY! That being Khordorkovsky! Cohen mentions "state capture" by oligarchs…. that is what is desired. There were many smug articles about Boris Berezovsky and "The family" back in the day. The sanctions plan is based upon this "state capture" model… this dream. That oligarchs serves as a Guardian Council and all leaders serve at THEIR pleasure. THEY are under "OUR" control… through the privileges they have as members of the global elite… these privileges are being revoked. And Putin made comments the other day about how these people more often than not are more loyal to this transnational global elite than to Russia and so if the West wants to go after those people in a bid to attack Russia, let them!
