I used to be a fundamentalist baptist who followed the fundamentalist dispensational interpretation of prophecies about israel converting to christianity. Dispensationalism was popularized by the Scofield Bible full of footnotes about interpretations of israel prophecies and is published by Oxford. The good news is fundamentalism is disappearing among young americans and there are now plenty of nones and atheists.

Violence (and therefore fascism the oligarchs colluding with military, law enforcement, justice system) was never far away in the U.S. history. After WW2 the Cold War was started to get rid of all left tendencies, the population was lulled with increasing prospertiy, but meanwhile all resistance against the class of the rich and powerful was dismantled (far left, Social Democraticic oriented / FDR style and increasingly the unions).
There were presidents (D + R) that still upheld the New Deal benefits. Truman unleashed war against other nations but kept the benefits for the U.S. citizens. So the U.S. citizens did not object.
The Republicans tried to destroy Social Security from the beginning. Eisenhower defended it – agaist a part of his own party. (Maybe his participation to crush the veterans march did make some impact on him).
Wallace was hindered with shenanigans at the party convention to become VP (they cut the microphone, he was a very popular member of the cabinet, Secretary of agriculture, after FDR the most popular politician. Truman the war mongerer with the wounded ego got the position and was president in waiting. They must have known then that FDR was not in good health).
The wealthy Democrats had to "endure" FDR, there was an attempt to prevent a third candidacy of FDR in 1940, then it was unusual to have more than 2 terms but the law came much later.
So the oligarchs in the Democratic party could not get rid of FDR (or could they ? – that high blood pressure that eventually killed him ?? he was not old).
But with Truman they could continue to have brutal wars of aggression (Korea, Latin America).
And then then 2 Kennedys, MLK, AND the leading figures of the Black Panthers were all killed. Police started fire at a large but peaceful rally at campus (they shot someone who did not even participate).
That was not investigated. The country was shocked, the parents …. but the rulers had their grip on the media it seems, they should have doubled down on resisting the fascist state with the "democratic" facade.
Every time REAL change threatened they used violence.
They tried a coup against FDR in 1934 as well (Rich U.S. industrialists looked with ENVY at Europe – in many European countries the far right / fascists had taken over (helped by the "conservatives" the wealthy. In Italy 30,000 ill equipped men marched on Rome, the KING refused to let the army use against them. And later when they were before Rome he colluded with them. He thought that these people that were allegedly for the "little people" would help him and his buddies – and he was right.
In Germany the rich industrialist were promised that the unions would be taken out – and war.
They financed covertly the Nazis (and they got even money from U.S. industrial leaders).
The Ford's, Kelloggs's Lindbergh's etc. knew they would need the U.S. military to overthrow FDR – and it was tricky, there was a left mass movement, that was how FDR had enough leverage to force his own party to go along with the measures. There had been a veterans march on Washington asking form their benefits. They came with their families, the then government used teargass, etc. some were killed, many harmed.
McArthur and Eisenhower participated when the government used the MILITARY against the veterans. General Smedley Butler was sympathetic to their cause.
So the top brass of the military was not well liked with the veterans, they had not forgotten how they had turned on them 2 years ago. So the plotters turned to Gen. Butler who was in good standing with the veteran community to find out how he thought about it. Butler showed mild interest – said he wanted to know more, and then some more.
And then informed the White House.
(He also wrote a book War is a racket).
I assume there was not enough evidence for a criminal trial, especially not against the really powerful people (they had sent a middleman). Maybe FDR was warned off by the rich in his party. They chose to not let the public know then. (Which I think was a mistake).
TRNN seems to be doing some scapegoating of it's own. That's OK JP & BN, TRNN is still my go to network. Keep up the good work.
I wish Paul would site some specific examples when he says that some pro-Palestine supporters are anti-semitic. I have worked on this issue for many years and have not found this to be true.
American Jews have been sending their money to Israel by the ton for the last 70 years. They also strap on a gun and go and play homesteader there. There was bound to be a backlash at some point.

This is Empire unraveling; the Elites think they can play the race card and confine it to Muslims and people of Color but as Paul points out European and Jewish racism has existed for thousands of years. The World Economy is collapsing, the North African agenda is compromised because of MBS's brazen actions and the racist rants of Trump are causing deadly attacks like Pittsburgh. This is still halftime who knows what will happen after the mid-terms.
A majority of white women also voted for Trump. Why do they get a pass? I’m sure a lot of them are wealthy, too.

I’m listening with great admiration to how Paul tries to explain the complexity without blaming common folks. We have not really a broad fascist movement, but a lot of angry disenfranchised people, who could be turned by demagogues. The more of them we label as Nazis the more they recognise their strength. That’s why Steve Bannon tells them to wear the label as a badge of honour. The only real way how all this hatred, stereotyping, and racism can be overcome, is by members of each group to first question their own righteousness. This includes the radical left. Doesn’t matter your political orientation, your minority status, or other group memberships, tribal traits are rampant and go deep in all humans. We have to give up this pretty thinking of our humanity to be so far above Stone Age man. These traits are a part of human nature, a strong drive that creates both antagonisms and warfare as it creates empathy and bonding, including across group boundaries. No one is free of this, no majority and no minority, not Blacks, not Jews, not Whites or Asians. I didn’t know Paul has Jewish roots, and i guess he felt compelled to mention it in the introduction before he could directly address American Jews to talk about the bigger picture surrounding this atrocity. We are all capable of committing atrocities, and from the inside it usually seems to look as if it had to be to survive an external threat, how ever vague, or as if we had to do it for the survival of our tribe, our ethnic minority, or our “western civilisation”. Now we even have online tribes, can be members of several tribes at the same time, and can have tribal warfare using twitter. All this is a “natural” force ready for harvesting. The exceptionally successful and wealthy investors and hedge fund managers who feed some of these frenzies, aren’t necessarily all evil. Most believe they are doing something good for their tribe or ethnic group, for Human civilisation even. but too often they just play games and feed even the most sinister ideologues and movements. I’d like to know more about the apocalyptic Christian Zionists who are rarely mentioned. They seem to be numerous yet almost invisible, as if operating in a parallel universe. Yet we can’t just project our fears on these people, instead find ways to understand what drives them, and how to get them out of their magical thinking. Things must have gotten really bad for them if these folks are waiting for a cataclysm.

While we're hypnotized, angry and frustrated by the cartoon President, the theatre's on fire, yet we ignore it. I think the Pittsburgh Massacre is a mild depiction of the impunity with which Israel Massacre innocent Palestinians in droves without a single retribution from the hegemonic America. This shooter is not only an American but a Christian. Has anybody called him a Christian " Terrorist"? NO! Like some Hebrew Yogi reciting a mantra , I think Mr. Norton used the phrase " antisemitism " about 15 billion times . He never mentioned " fractional reserve banking " once . The entire dialogue between Norton and Jay was like a baseball player , Norton , who swings with all his might , but completely misses Jay's fast ball . The older Jay has a much more objective , grounded view . Using and manipulating simplistic linguistics won't solve your problem . Declaring every thing " anti-semetic " and " fascist " or "racist " won't solve your problem . The root of the hatred of Jews , is how Jews use misuse intellect to manipulate MONEY . Creating a sustainable , interest free currency issued by the Congress , not issued by a cartel of corrupt Bankers , many of whom happen to be Zionist Jews , might .
