Oh yes, Hedges has been everywhere: WW1, WW2, Vietnam, Korea, The Holy Roman Empire, etc., etc.,. He spews out his CV completely every time he opens his mouth.

I am always wondering why us, humans in the modern days got so weak. The WWII veterans didn't have a privilege of trauma counselling or mental treatment. Some were severely tortured by both the enemies and allies. Some did become alcohol abusers and caused abuses to the families and generations to follow. Yet, many of them rebuilt the nation bravely. We owe a lot to their sacrifice. After the US defeat in the Viet Nam War, the drug abuse increased dramatically. In the Afghan and Iraq wars, thr young American soliders couldn't face the reality of fighting, killing another human, and depended a lot on harder drugs. The war is fought by mightier and more complexed weapons and ammunitions with the higher technology these days. The stress level must be higher ? and justifies the use of fatal drugs to escape the fear? The politicians and commanders must be placed in the front line, if they continue to wage wars.
This is a great book . Read it if you have the courage.
When the blessed prophet Muhammad peace be upon him conveyed the message about worshipping One God with no partners and tackling social injustice, many (wealthy arabs) chose to ignore the message this caused the prophet immense grief because he cared for all of creation. God Almighty sent revelation on the lines of Oh prophet your duty is to convey the message, guidance is from God and you will cause yourself to become severely ill or even death following after them in grief. Also the story of Prophet Yaqub (Jacob) losing his sight temporarily due to grief of the loss of prophet Yusef (Joseph). God Almighty revealed the connection between emotions and health 1500 years ago in the final revelation the Holy Quran. Please read it as God Almighty states he sent it as a mercy, guide, healing and perfected his favour on his creation and chose Islam as the way.
Chris, I really like your ability to harmonise different perspectives on various issues and points of view .. most people will come to an instant summary or conclusion regarding any topic without having done any independent investigation themselves .. they skim and repeat what Big Media have just informed them
