So the USA places sanctions on countries which predominately make the poor people in those countries suffer more (sixty years of suffering in the case of Cuba). The official USA led media narrative is that the sanctions are to strangle and punish the current regime in those countries (however im sure the regime leaders and their families are well fed and housed).
However the suffering of the poor at the hands of US sanctions is actually the goal of the sanctions. The USA is actually in effect hoping the suffering of the poor will make them rise up and overthrow the regime thus doing the hard, dangerous, dirty work on behalf of the USA.
The USA has a long history of interventions in Latin America to undermine socialism – the decades long civil war started by the USA in Guatemala is a prime example. The destabilisation of Latin America by the USA is a prime contributor to the waves of refugees attempting to enter the USA from Mexico.
