As mentioned in the video, the unfortunate side of this event is that two local guys passed away when the snowcat fell through the ice. For clarity, they did not pass away in the snowcat.
Where did we get the snowcat?
We travel to the Grand Mesa Lodge located at over 10,600 feet in elevation to recover a snowcat 70 feet deep that broke through 30″ of ice on Island Lake over 18-months ago in Colorado.
It was our mission to recover the snowcat free of charge so that family, nor the Forest Service received a bill for the snowcat recovery.
The snowcat originally fell through the ice in February 2019 with over 30 inches of ice on the lake.
