We found 2 stolen guns in the lake 77 feet deep while scuba diving… VHS tape helps find owner 17 years later. POLICE INVOLVED… 🚔
On this episode of Adventures with Purpose, MrLeisek and Chris jump into the Crooked River arm at Lake Billy Chinook for a deep 115-foot dive under the bridge to clean up the environment.
We found a gun safe with 2 rifles, 3 batteries, a tackle box along with a VHS tape.
Chris and Nick, who were part of the recovery efforts, removed the tape from the old VHS housing, rinsing off the tape, letting it dry and placing it in a new VHS tape case picked up at Goodwill.
The tape actually plays 17 years later.
On the tape was a connection to Madras HS band.
Whoever was recording kept focusing just on one student who was a drummer in the band.
From there it took us only 8 hours of pushing out to social media to find out who the kid was and connecting with his father who turns out was the one recording and is the person that had his safe and guns stolen back in 2002.
We could never have done this without previous dives and the support of many.
