Warning signs of the instability of the global financial system abounded in the months leading up to the 2008 Lehman Brothers crash. Among these early signs were the astounding revelations about UBS, the world’s largest private bank, by Stephanie Gibaud, who was employee at the bank’s French division. Gibaud refused instructions given to her and other employees to delete all their company files. In doing so, she helped reveal a vast web of corruption and fraud linking UBS to a shadowy tax evasion scheme. More than 15 years later, Gibaud has endured harassment, professional ostracization, lawsuits, and threats. She joins The Chris Hedges Report to speak on her ordeal and the extent of corruption in the international banking system.

Mme Gibaud's story oddly parallels my story in a suburban school district. The crime was not only physical abuse, but spirit destruction. Her way of describing it is similar. I find it scary that actors for the state shunned me, too. I couldn't find a lawyer to bring a case about the students, and I didn't try to get my job back or to sue them on my behalf, although those would probably succeeded.
This woman seems super annoying.
Rich clients don't need you airing out their dirty laundry. Who was hurt by them avoiding taxes? The government? its not like individual people lost money because of it. This is the game of money.

It is so unfair, when those who point out wrongdoing and people who are not to be trusted are themselves branded as traitors and not to be trusted. That in turn seems to provide a license to treat them abysmally. May God protect this woman and her family!

Essentially covering the loans of another bank kinda like insurance.
Here’s the problem: bank A covers bank B who covers bank C who covers bank A in a phony circle jerk.
Just one of many instabilities in the global banking system.
Of course the biggest are fiat currencies and the whole foundational system of fractional reserve banking where they loan back out almost all of what people deposit, creating fictional money out of thin air, which collapses when a huge problem occurs- like the coming economic crisis.
We are so close to a total collapse! This is what a total simpleton has learned. The deeper you dive the worse it gets.

This story is unbelievable. How is it possible that in France, which attaches great importance to human rights, big criminals can simply ruin honest employees who want to work according to the law and the rules, i.e. honest, upright citizens. I hope this huge injustice is righted. This lady deserves THE NATIONAL ORDER OF THE LEGION OF HONOR. The highest French award.

This and the total exposé by Ms Gibaud is an excellent video message to all those employees of large corporations who are contemplating becoming whistleblowers. The directors of UBS must be extremely satisfied with her, as she’s served them the perfect solution in dealing with any dissidents. And all at no cost, always a bonus for the banking crowd.
Now to the main point: is she really that naïve so as to never have considered the possibility that the bank was not aware that their clients weren’t, let’s say, quite up front about their tax obligations? How then, do wealthy clients avoid losing out on about fifty percent of their capital? How does a bank not tell their clients there are many ways to do this? Does she really want us to believe that banks forgo that juicy fifty percent in the name of fiscal compliance? She herself states quite clearly that her aim was to gain and maintain clients’ trust in the bank. Are we to believe that millionaires prefer a ringside seat or a lap around Maranello to saving half their fortune? Is that the trust they’re looking for or is this confidence based on the bank’s doing the utmost to protect their money?
If we are to assume that basically Ms Gibaud is a salesperson, she certainly missed out on a golden opportunity by saying to her bosses “Look, I messed up but you can quietly keep me on the payroll while I cry all over the internet and beyond about how impossible it is to go against you guys”.
Or, maybe she didn’t miss out …
