  1. @The Real News Network : Re. the " Great Pacific garbage patch ". Lost my comment, maybe due to having unintentionally closed the tab before clicking on the Comment button. Anyway, here's a video by what evidently is the or one of the leading activist organizations. It's a very brief scientific sort of explanation without any on-site footage, but it explains how they scoured or surveyed, say, the area. " The Great Pacific Garbage Patch, Explained " (2:40), The Ocean Cleanup, 22 Mar 2018, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0EyaTqezSzs. Here's another short one that shows some on-site footage, albeit I doubt that it's all from this HUGE floating island of plastic; all showing plastic, but some is like on beach. We get some images and activist song. " Great Pacific Garbage Patch – Ocean Pollution Awareness " (2:57), oceanpollutionpatch, 31 Aug 2012, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qT-rOXB6NI. Here's a more thorough scientific (with on-site footage) video, definitely providing the most explanation of these three videos: " The Great Pacific Garbage Patch Is Not What You Think It Is | The Swim " (7:50), Seeker, 3 Dec 2018, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HBtl4sHTqU. I recommend all three given that the first two are very short. Seeker is a sort of scientific group or organization on various scientific and tech. topics and evidently performed some on-site research into the " Great Pacific garbage patch ". These videos won't make you a " happy camper " on this planet. I've learned a LITTLE about this "island" of residual, say, plastic for some years now from meteomedia.com, which is the French channel of The Weather Network , but this TRNN video is the first time I've heard of the "island" being called anything else, so I immediately did a Web search for < Great Pacific garbage patch " > (minus the outer brackets) and these three videos are 3 of 4 first links I get. The other link is for a page of a Web site that evidently is for the The Ocean Cleanup YouTube channel , https://www.theoceancleanup.com/great-pacific-garbage-patch.

  2. Spot on. It pisses me off immensely when even the tiniest thing come in at least two layers of plastic. I'm sure that we could easily enough restructure our food industry away from plastic. I look forwards to an economy not designed around planned obsolescence as well. It's all well and good buying a toaster for £10 or a microwave for £20, but we'd all be happier paying a little more and not having to constantly rebuy.

  3. I like to order in at times and the food comes in stirophome and plastic. Now a quck look o' various online health food stores such as Vita Cost. One finds they sale biodegradable picnic where. And i swithed over to another channel to see really advance usage of bamboo, see UB pack. a channel such as Headline Science featured products that are biodigadible and edible the film i viewed feature milk kesin. So the point is it can be done the cut down on nonbiodigadibles but since it is not mandatory business will go on useing plastic.I seriously would be willing to pay a buck or 2 more for my food to come to me.

  4. 0:43 How is plastic in the EU getting into the Pacific Ocean? Let's try and stay in reality so you don't become fake news. Also, there is no "huge island" of trash. There is a lot of trash but it hasn't come together to form its own island!

  5. I have been driving my family crazy by talking of banning plastic needs to be implemented. Noone seems very worried.
People need to take a look at their very plastic obsession!
    I hate all plastics!
I have changed what I buy and use.
We CAN do this..if you care enough.
    WAKE UP PEOPLE!

  6. The EU are a bunch of un-elected bureaucrats that nobody wants. They need to stop messing around and accept Brexit and then go crawl back into their hidy holes and stay there.
