Corporations Are Protecting Their Profits From COVID-19, Not Their Workers

Trump is offering big business billions of dollars as the pandemic spreads, and almost nothing for their stranded employees. But real protection for workers has to be much more than a $1000 check.

  1. I thought conservitive/capitalist/libertarian markets were the answer to everything? Where are the market solutions to this issue? Fraud.

  2. Instead of giving BANKS 1 trillion dollars of taxpayer money, that money should go to the taxpayers ….especially because thay are in danger and this virus knows nothing about your financial status!

  3. ? People will use money to buy food, gas, medicine, and pay rent, utilities, and car payments long before they'll buy stuff on Amazon. This guy does not seem to live in the real world.

  4. Actually, we are seeing that this illness isn't as dire as projected by the media and the government. Most people can endure this virus. .07-.01% of most countries actually die, once infected. We shouldn't be risking homelessness or hunger or economic collapse due to a virus. So, we need a class action lawsuit organized, immediately to represent workers, because these relief measures are not going to be adequate to float our whole country. This is ridiculous. China is already over this virus, I believe it lasted 6 weeks. What is a 6 month lockdown going to do—kill most all small businesses and their workers, period. Congress, get a clue!

  5. Completely agree with you Eric the fathead… I also ask thd same question – WHY aren't we the beneficiaries of our own fucking hard-working money?????

  6. It will be a damn good thing if people and businesses decide that much less discretionary flying and travel is a possibility. Think climate change and the environment.

  7. Oh Hell no! That man is wrong to argue that people are going to waste the money, so we should give it to the companies.

Oh Hell no! People have bills and responsibilities. People have rent payments, housing payments, loan payments, utilities, need to our food on the table, etc. He’s going on about people buying fancy coffee makers. That’s a rubbish argument!

Big companies and corporations cannot be trusted whatsoever. They can’t be merely β€œdirected.” They are untrustworthy. The companies have to be legally bound and punishable by law if they do not comply.

But then we would have to have policing mechanisms to enforce that. That’s too much to ask. Pelosi is the problem at this point. She’s privileged and doesn’t begin to get the massive economic collapse that will happen if at minimum $1000 to $2000 monthly is not disbursed to every citizen immediately.

We should also open soup kitchens and infrastructure programs immediately – to be implemented as soon as the virus passes and people can be in contact with one another again.

Look, the only problem I had with the man was his intimations or outright statements that people can’t be trusted, sure some can’t, but most can, and that’s no argument for not getting money out to the PEOPLE immediately.

Pelosi should be left out. She’s gunming up the works and if the government doesn’t help the people, not the businesses and corporations, but the people DIRECTLY, we are going to experience a major depression and revolution including street violence.

They’d better do what’s right and help the people directly and immediately with cash payments, and that’s it.

  8. Trillions already spent propping up the Stock Market, and is still failing. Corporate media has not said one word about that Socialism.

  9. People in the United States have been okay with providing less than $1,000 a month to people with disabilities and Social Security. It's time for every American to get a taste of their own medicine. All of America is going to go to hell. Straight to Hell!
And you deserve it! A bunch of thoughtless pieces of garbage.

  10. If the US Government doesn't get its act together and help out the working class instead of just bailing out the rich and giant corporations people are going to come out of this isolation and burn this country to the ground….

  11. Available funds will not mean β€œrenewed” demand. It would mean many people would actually be able to purchase some commodities to prepare for the immediate future. This guest has no concept of the circumstances people are actually in.

  12. Burger king is making us threaten our lives by continuing to work while cutting our hours so we can't pay our bills. Everyone is freaking out but the managers. They are getting their hours.

  13. The American system is such a sick joke. You have multi millionaires and billionaires that sit in Congress denying people even the most basic of needs whilst at the same time selling their shares in insider trading before word got out of this virus so they could make pay. These people should all hang.
