I live in a gated community and I wouldn't let my young children out of my sight to ride their bicycles but even more I don't know why you would allow them to go in an unsupervised area especially a wooded area due to bears, coyotes, or other wildlife attacking your child.
I have only just heard bits and pieces. But it seems he might have been within 1.4 mi from the family’s residence at times and then she was abducted when the family went camping however he went to deliver the note to the family residence.

It's a miracle she's alive
After having seen so many nasty cases, involving gruesome fates of children, this case is much needed, and very welcome. It warms my heart to see how so many different agencies came together, and solved this case, in a matter of "no time", to me, but we all know, that each second felt like lightyears to this family. I hope all the best to them, and to those who still work on this case: No plea deal. Being ugly, doesn't mean you're insane. Too many people are quick to believe a person is insane, when their looks are, shall I say, "strange, or scary".

It also helped that the kidnapper is a complete idiot for having his fingerprints on the ransom note .
