One citizen one vote. Irrelevant whether you have committed a crime or not. There are basics to be able to be called a democrcary and the right to vote is one of them. Steal a candy bar or kill 10 people, you should still be able to vote.
In a true democracy everyone must have the right to vote. If the government has the right to silence voters, in one way or other, you have a voting procedure that is controlled and directed by the goverment, and that is not democracy.

Underdstand that voting is a statement of opinion. Use the word"restraint" instead of "punishment". Why shut off their opinions during restraint? Society has a right to their opinions during restraint. Keep in mind that opinions can change during restraint that could be for life. Knowledge should never be shut off. We should not fear knowledge.
