The problem is, and will forever continue to be, that this “base” of Democratic voters, is NOT represented by the Democratic party. The Democratic platform DOES NOT MATCH what this group wants and believes. These “young upstarts” are not supported by the Democratic party, But these people are brainwashed into believing that there is no alternative for them except to be Republicans. They are sold a narative by these talking heads, these opinion makers, these pundit “experts” that Democrats are THE “progressive” party when they are not and never will never be a progressive party. The Democratic party is a right-wing party, and has been since the inchoation of Third-way following McGovern’s 1972 loss to Nixon. They are sold a narrative that Greens are “fringe” by these opinion-makers, and these voters are too obedient to even look for themselves to see that not only is the Green party not “fringe,” but that its platform actually matches what this “base” wants and believes, thus the borrowing of The Green New Deal. Hint: these new “young upstart Democrats” did not come up with that. No, Greens did. It is not up to these talking head pundits to decide that Greens can’t win, it’s up to the voters. It is only a self-fulfilling-prophecy of futility if you cannot defy this need to be obedient followers of what authoritative people on TV tell you.
There are a lot more Greens (that don’t know that they are Greens) than there appears to be.
