Integra Type R Restoration (Part 2) #ETCGBlackBeard

There is no end to my suffering in this video. The comments suggest that’s the way you like it.

This video covers the removal of the rear suspension on my 2000 Integra Type R. I use many tools and techniques to get the job done that you might find helpful.

  1. Nice to see a video of mechanic working without the use of a lift. Thanks for showing us mere mortals how it is done.

  2. Where the heck can I get a reasonably priced non riced integra. These things are in the 15s around me for an auto LS. If it’s the nature of the beast, I’d rather find a jdm one for that cost

  3. I did the rear suspension on an even rustier 6th gen civic and I found map gas to work very well for unseizing the bolt from the bushing. Once the bolt and bushing sleeve opens up the chasiss mount you can apply map gas directly to it and it freeze up easily with just and impact and some vice grips on the bushing sleeve.

  4. I’ve seen these air hammer attachments before. How do they differ from an impact gun?

Is it just a bigger impact than an impact gun anvil can provide?

  5. Many Acura Integra parts are shared with the CR-V…hmmm.🤔

No wonder so many Civics and Integras are converted to all-wheel drive!

  6. @ericthecarguy What are your thoughts on the overall build and things I should know about buying and daily driving an 2021-2022 Acura RDX A-spec ? Reliability and longevity wise, good choice ?

  7. Hey Eric, those looked like Diablo blades on your saw. How did they hold up against the suspension bolts when you had to cut them? That's probably grade 8 hardware so I imagine it's quite a fight.

  8. God Bless You Eric!!!! Amazing work and doing most of it the old fashioned way as in the beginning. Best of success in this project!!! 😀

  9. The new fixing it forward project is coming along very nicely. I have compiled a reasonable, yet lengthy list, of the many reasons why I might deserve this car and will get it to you punctually.

  10. You are going above and beyond for a car you're planning to sell! Its great future documentation for these 90's classics. Get you a lift for your garage so you can keep wrenching as long as you live. When people retire they start to age rapidly often – working on our passions and staying busy keeps us young.

  11. Well, rust is very common her in the UK.
I normally have to heat up bolts and/or nut to even get a fighting chance of getting any work done.
Usually, combo of heat and penetrating oil does the job. In some cases, I have to let soak up overnight, but you get the idea.
    Looking forward to next vid

  12. The Left (Driver's) Rear ABS Sensor for my 2001 Type R was discontinued, so I was able to use the one for a 2000 Integra LS ( 57475-ST7-A01 ). This LS's connector matches the ITR's, so no de-pinning is needed.

  13. Eric!!! So glad you’re back. Love the videos and appreciate you putting yourself back out there.

Also I freaking love the hitch mounted vise set up you have. That is so brilliant.

  14. The reciprocating saw DOES work on the rear LCA. You just need the correct blade on it. I snapped the exact bolt head. Went and got a reciprocating saw with a bosch blade for cutting through steel. It literally took 5 minutes to cut straight through the inner bush and bolt.

It's good when you get those bolts out.

  15. The bitter sweet of the north. So sad to know you’re selling this car putting all this work into it beforehand :/. Wish I had the money to afford it I’d love to have a type r especially one you have known and cared for majority of its life. Hopefully she goes to a good home 😢

  16. Eric, You are hitting a home run with this series. The struggle is what most people face when attempting work on their car. The adding of tips and tricks really ads to the video. I wish you could see to going back to this type of thing. When you got into the builds, that was outside of your repair videos and those were my favorite videos. Empowering the average person that wants to learn and needs to save money. My personal thought was that when you went to a lift, you lost some of your average joe appeal. I realize you needed it for the build work you were doing, but not everyone is doing that work. Good luck to you. You sure struck a familiar chord with me with this series. Love your work!!!!!

  17. First off, glad you are back posting videos, I really missed your expert and fun explanations to go along with your excellent work. Secondy, this looks like me trying to work on different parts. Eventually you will hit on the right tool and get it done. Whoowee, yay!😁

  18. Glad to see you again! I was excited to see the notification for new videos. Just wondering, what face shield were you using in the video?
