Dont just clean the pins. Clean the inside of the chamber after removing the rubber boot. Hit it with some brake cleaner and use a rolled up paper towel.
Very nice 👍
Very helpful tips!! Thank you Chris!! Could you please recommend brand of brakes and rotors? Appreciate it.
Thanks for that video it help me😂
the anti-seize bit is something I've advocated for years especially on vehicles near the coasts or in the salt belts. Now what type of anti-seize is a whole different story.
My top tip is quadruple check and make sure your pads aren’t put on backwards I’ve heard stories of professionals doing it and it’s especially important to know you’re doing it right when you’re starting out because we’re all human
Nice tips 👍
I know this is an old post, but did anybody notice the rather suspicious looking tire defect at the start of video?
Chris, I like your videos but you need to invest in a brake hub resurfacing kit. It fits on a drill and goes over the studs to clean the hub near the base of the studs. Use that tool or a wire cup on a drill to clean the remaining hub surface.
Tip: 12 When the wear indicator is making noise, do not turn the radio up. This doesn’t fix the brakes.
If only my kids would brush their teeth.
Tip 12: buy brembo break discs. Because they are painted inside the disc vents and that stops it from rusting or you can paint it your self since on every MOT test they will check for rusted break discs
Hi, all brsnds front and rear disc brake caliper are at 10 o'clock position?
Along with cleaning and lubing the caliper pins, get a brake hardware kit also. The brakes on my 2003 Silverado had over 100,000 miles on them when I replaced them. The most expensive set for the front brakes was $12.72. Time and heat take a toll on the rubber boots for the pins, and even though they look fine, it is cheap peace of mind.
Thanks buddy
Always torque mounting bolts back to spec and use a dab of blue Loktite to the threads. Dont want those bolts backing out, yet still removable for service.
What if the rotors are G-coated or E-coated? I can just put them on, right?
Great tips! Just did a brake job on my girlfriend’s car. There were a few tips I missed, but I know better for next time.
VERY Nice 💥🛠
Why Chris never show face .what's up with that. 8i want to know?
Any videos on how to use a caliber to determine if you need to have rotors resurfaced?
Tip eleven can save your life- good idea to add it!
Would have loved if you added where and how to correctly grease each spot on the breaks so to prevent squeaking noise.
I could add all these greases and stuff but I’m broke after buying rotors and breaks.
I just watched a video where Shouty dangled the caliper by the hose. I am refamiliarizing myself before changing the brakes on my Camry and watched a few videos. I was chatting with my fiancée and immediately stopped and told her that Shouty gave bad advice.
Everything is clear. Excellent . My congratulations.
Surprised he didn’t talk about adding brake grease to back of pads where piston touches to stop squeaking or other brake noises.
Thanks!
Thanks Chris …
These are some great tips! I'm about to do the front brakes, and I'm glad I found your video!
I have a few questions. I am a new DIY enthusiast, and would like to try fixing my car brakes myself.
1) If I don’t have the torque wrench does it matter or can I use a normal wrench?
2) How much time would it take for someone doing it for the first time? All 4 Brakes and Rotors?
3) Recommendations on the brands and products to use?
Dude you never fail..
Y’all bleeped out mental retardation? That’s a medical condition
You just covered a bunch of shit other folks definitely don’t even do!! I need to know more of your socials my guy salute!
Hey Chris, which direction do the wear indicators face. At the leading edge, so the indicator is facing the opposite of the rotation?
Tip 14 don't buy anything with drum brakes
Very informative video 👍🏽
I want you 😍to change the rotors and pads at my 2003 Toyota Corolla.
Chris fix is always my go to for quick knowledge when I’m working on my car
Great video
Where is your shop?
Top tip 12: unscrew the brake fluid cap on the reservoir before doing all of this 👍
Been servicing my own brakes on cars and aircraft for many years, and approve of this ad. 🙂
You do all that cleaning, then the first rainstorm you drive through puddles and your rotors get dirt and oil on them anyway.
🎉Thank you so much‼️
All things I've heard to do and always forget. We'll save this video for next time. You explained it perfect.
been doing my own brakes and rotors/oil changes /spark plugs replacements and struts /drive axles changes for decades! but now am a little older and don't have that youthful enthusiasm nor the patience for it and pay others to do it for me. but when a job is well done?.. i choose to tip! on the other hand they try to pull a fast one? i make it a point to let them know they did a lousy job! and need it to have it corrected!.. so always shop around! (No Pun intended) and when you find a good honest mechanic just stick with him or her! they are out there! just like ChrisFix!@
I haven't changed brake pads in years. This video should keep me up to date (even though it's 7 years old).
