Finding and Fixing Broken Engine Mounts

**Sponsored Video** With great information.

In this video I show you how to diagnose and replace broken engine mounts in your vehicle. Specifically, I’m working on a 2014 Jeep Patriot in this video, but the general principals apply to most engine mount applications.

  1. This is the first video I've seen of your's. Obvious to me that you have lots of knowledge, wisdom and skills. I like the explaining as you go through the steps.

  2. Eric, You are one cool dude! Thank you for the informative and thorough demonstration of changing out all 4 mounts. Really, you have been a super car champion hero to me for the past 10 years or more! I'm doing all 4 on my Mitsubishi Outlander this week.

  3. Eric, your command of the English language is always impressive, as well, of course, your mechanical knowledge. Keep up the great work!!

  4. "It does feel a littler smother at idle" as the engine is rolling back and forth so hard the ac lines are getting yanked on. Eric is usually an honest guy so this is kinda hard to watch. Anchor mounts are better than nothing but they aint great. I just picked up a set and they are so chintzy that they are going back to the store. Im taking the money spent on a whole set and putting it towards a single OEM Honda mount to replace the one thats actually broken.

  5. you did not fix the broken angine mounts..you replaced/substituted them…….your title is not very precise……a bit missleading actually……..

  6. Always go OEM with wngine mounts. Particularly if you drive an '08 acura rl. I had a shop change mine, only one was oem, and at least one of the front/rear mounts were Anchor brand. Before, with bad mounts, my car felt like i was riding on a cloud and made no noise. Now it sounds god awful. NVH from hell, be careful.

  7. Is $600 a reasonable fee to replace a single motor mount on my 5.3 liter 2007 Tahoe? Dealership diagnosed a driver side mount. I realize labor rates are different across the country. I'm in Eastern NC.

  8. Aren't those mounts the Chinese aftermarket trash?

I'd like to know how long they lasted till you had to re replace them.

    Anyone on here tested these?

  9. What if I replaced two then a week later replaced the other two do I have to loosen all four and shake the engine or should I be ok

  10. Eric: you say to make sure you've ruled out all the other causes for a rough running engine. What are the other possibilities? I have a 1993 Toyota pickup, it doesn't have an OBD so I have to figure things out the old fashioned way.

  11. did you jack up before remove mount? I do not see jack stand on video. oh lifted by hydraulic lifter, but still need engine jack to support engine.

  12. good video to learn, thanks, my Toyota 2006 only rattling on 1st gear, and ok on 2, 3, 4, 5 gears (5 speed manual,) what parts are bad?

  13. After 20 years I've just changed all three engine mounts in my Ford. The difference is shocking. Silent interior, no vibration at all.

  14. Eric I’m wondering i got a 03 e329 benz when i go to break the car putters to a stop. I think it’s a engine mount or a tranny mount. What do you think it could be?

  15. I saw guy cut and full his with poly I wonder if it worked.. yeah I poly lobbed bushings on trucked lowered and then tightened after it was lowered.. alignment was acuay close…

  16. Made in China mounts. I know it is not your fault, but EHHHH. Touchy subject. Mounts look like shitty quality. It's your sponsor and I understand you have to make a living.

  17. Another test I’ve done is place a jack under the engine and lift lightly if the vibration goes away with a little support that’s a good sign the mounts are weak.

  18. I made a huge costly mistake buying supposedly genuine timing belt kit for my Acura Tl on ebay. Thought they were ome. I had my certified mechanic install the parts and a year after destroyed my engine because it;s an interference engine. 4,500 dollars lost. Don't buy parts on ebay, many parts are counterfeit from china. I just don't want people to make the same mistake I did.

  19. Eric is sponsored by anchor, who manufacturer subpar engine mounts. A sell out is someone who has no problem sponsoring a mfr no one should be wasting time putting on their vehicle and act like it's a decent product. That's all I need to unsubscribe from this channel.

  20. Dude, Eric, Your quality in all aspects of this video is absolutely stellar! Good camera shots, editing, lighting, narration, and workmanship! This is why your "Da Man!"
