My Salvage Ferrari 360 Rebuild Project was delivered with a Leaky Rear Main Oil Seal. To pull the transmission and do a clutch and all the replacement items would cost around $5,000 parts and labor, so instead I used some cheap stop leak that I bought at the auto parts store. Here’s how well this miracle fix actually works!

  1. It's called confirmation bias. You called around until you got the answer you wanted. You made up your mind to use the stop leak before you wasted the time of the other two mechanics. I know I'm posting this to a guy that did a hack job on the floor pan, but it's a Ferrari, why the hell would you put stop leak in it. If you don't want to spend the money on the clutch, then just do the rear main. I subbed and I am unsubbing because from what I have seen in this series you're a hack.

  2. Toyota clutch 200,000. Ferrari clutch, 40,000. I know it's not fair but it's like 1965 when you were thinking about changing a clutch in your GTO at 20,000 miles.

  3. I have an Accord with a bad rear main for over 100,000 miles. It's original with 327,000. There is oil all the way to the rear axle and I have to check it once a week. My plan is to put a timing belt at 336,000 and lift the engine up enough to do the rear main at the same time. Honestly, almost all my cars leak. Pro tip, put the AC on recirculate at stop lights ha ha. I'm not sure why you don't just drive the thing until it needs a clutch. It's not a daily driver, so you add a few ounces of oil every month, who cares. That's why they make cardboard, just put some down on your garage floor where you park the car.

  4. Using stop leak…… NO!, NEVER EVER! NOT ON ANY CAR!
You will regret it when it softens every seal in the engine and then you have to reseal the whole engine! JUST DON'T!

  5. Ur personally waistline ur time for a small oil leak with a Ferrari clutch with half the life left. As much as u will “personally” drive this caR ITS NOT WORTH IT. Now if u plan on selling this car then give the customer the option with cost and options but over all man. Fr fr , if u plan on keeping this car for years then simply drive it for around 10,000 more miles or before u feel the F1 going out , slipping or Slow then give it another thought. Ur waisting ur Personal time with this 360, drive it and enjoy it for another 10,000 miles & give it another thought 💭

  6. We’ve never truly never known them to work in Russia 🇷🇺 and surly in Europe and USA also. Maybe I small leak on a Honda or Toyota for short term until u can afford a true labor cost but no way for a Ferrari. Plus they LOVE LOVE high reps over the lifetime of the engine. Ferraris DO NOT like Low Reps or to be babied for the only short terms they are driven.
I’ve owned many Maserati and Ferraris. For the money I would buy a Maserati FULLY LOADED from 2005 -2007 without the Z in the Vin for the Italian Transmission “Feel” compared to the 360 due to they are basically the same platform.

  7. at 205 reseal is the way to go, it just makes seals that have gotten hard from age and heat soft again. maybe not as soft as new but makes it not hard anymore. its your best bet. i read most ppl have good luck with it.

  8. Lmfao you'd be surprised how many exotic car dealerships add stop leak additives to high end cars they are trying to sell. I used to deliver parts to a dealership that sold used exotics.. I've personally witnessed them adding a bottle of bars leaks to a 2005 Ferrari F430 they were trying to sell.

  9. Too long now but stop leak is fine. but after it stops leaking, if it does at all, you have to do a oil change to get rid of the additive before all your drama become gummy.

  10. Well boys and girls what we have learned here is there is no such thing as owing a Ferrari on a budget. That is what you call a oxymoron.

  11. I seen engines that have bad main bearing yes there are a thrust bearing a manual transmission.. is this common ?? Put a dial inficater on the crank and put pressure both ways

  12. Message of the day: if you want to own a ferrari “on the cheap” be prepared to get a boatload of spare cash and time, your own youtube channel, a garage with all of the tools and all the knowledge and experience you need to fix your own ferrari problems. A ferrari dealer will probably NEVER touch your car if you’ve worked on your own ferrari.
