Wrong-Way Encounter: DUI Suspect Apprehended by Police

#CrimeCamNow
In the early hours of July 7, 2022, a routine patrol for a Chamblee police officer took an unexpected turn when he narrowly avoided a collision with a wrong-way driver in Atlanta, Georgia.
Quick to react, the officer immediately turned his patrol car around and initiated a traffic stop. As he approached the driver’s side window, he noticed signs that all was not well. The female driver’s speech was slurred, and her actions raised concerns.
The officer inquired about her alcohol consumption, to which she admitted to having just two drinks at a nearby club. However, it became apparent that this wasn’t the only issue. A check of her driver’s license revealed that she lacked valid insurance for her vehicle.
With a commitment to upholding the law, the driver was asked to step out of her vehicle. She complied, raising her hands in a gesture of cooperation, expressing her fear of the situation. Field sobriety tests were administered, and unfortunately, she did not pass.
Faced with these infractions, the officer made the difficult decision to place her under arrest. The charges against her include driving under the influence (DUI), a violation for having no proof of insurance, a headlight violation, and passing a vehicle going in the opposite direction.
