Wrong-Way DUI: Driver’s Reckless Drive To Pick Up A Child

#CrimeCamNow
On March 22, 2022, in Dunwoody, Georgia, a police officer on patrol observed an SUV driving in the wrong direction, directly into oncoming traffic. The officer turned on the sirens and pulled the vehicle over, concerned about safety.

Approaching the SUV, the officer immediately smelled alcohol coming from the driver, who explained that her license was suspended due to a previous DUI. She mentioned she needed to pick up her child from daycare and had driven the wrong way due to traffic frustrations.

The officer asked about her drinking, and she initially claimed to have had just one drink, insisting she wasn’t drunk. However, she later admitted to having consumed two drinks.

The officer conducted a sobriety test, which she failed, leading to her arrest for DUI. At the police station, she agreed to a breath test, which showed her blood alcohol content was twice the legal limit.

As a result of this eventful encounter, the driver faced multiple charges, including DUI, reckless driving, and driving with a suspended or revoked license. She was taken to Dekalb County Jail, marking an unexpected turn of events on that day.
