San Diego, California — San Diego, California — On August 15, 2023, at 1:23 a.m., San Diego Police dispatch received a 911 call from a motorist who said he had been followed and shot at by the occupants of a white Tesla. The victim was uninjured. The two men in the white Tesla fled the scene. A camera captured the moment that two men in a white Tesla fired at the victim on ben street. The Tesla came to a stop in front of the victim’s car. As the victim drove around the Tesla, the driver and passenger fired shots at the victim. One occupant of the white Tesla was 33-year-old Benjamin Pickens.

Pickens was located later that same morning on the campus of Mesa College, where an officer-involved shooting occurred. During the incident, Pickens shot and killed a San Diego Police K9. Pickens later died at the Hospital. The second occupant of the white Tesla, who also fired shots at the victim on Ben street, was not located that morning. Investigators later identified the second occupant of the white Tesla as 31-year-old Xavier Benjamine Lacosta. Investigators obtained a warrant to arrest Lacosta and search his home. On august 15, at 6:45 p.m., San Diego Police detectives were serving a warrant at an apartment complex in the 6100 block of El Cajon Boulevard. A third-floor apartment in the building was identified as Lacosta’s residence.

SDPD detectives set up a perimeter on the apartment building. Detectives made phone calls inside to the apartment, did call-outs directly outside of the apartment, and gave verbal commands and warnings for Lacosta to exit the apartment with his hands empty. Lacosta exited the apartment holding a firearm. Officers gave commands for him to drop the gun, and he complied by tossing the firearm at his feet. Officers commanded Lacosta to put his hands above his head. Suddenly, Lacosta lunged for the firearm and an officer-involved shooting occurred. Officers provided medical aid until the arrival of paramedics. Lacosta was pronounced deceased at the scene. Lacosta’s firearm was recovered. It was determined to be a ghost gun. It was loaded with a round in the chamber.

  1. two tough beans shooting someone while driving a tesla and killing a police K9, both turned to ash after short lives. A win in the end for humanity.

  2. And for the people who read "Ghost Gun" in the description and get all bent out of shape. That usually means a stolen gun with the serial number scratched off. It's just a regular gun. That's all.

  3. Pay very close attention to the officer's trigger finger!! This is beautiful offensive indexing! From no finger in the trigger well, to 7 shots in less than 2 seconds!! Train baby train!!!❤❤❤

  4. Maybe these guys did some other things that they felt would get them some heavy time, because this makes no sense, neither does their noted crime. Also, they need to make it against police policies to execute someone for killing a police dog, when the primary purpose of that dog is to maul someone. We have see too many cases where the K9 cop puts the dog on a compliant suspect – just because. Next, police will execute you for destroying a police robot. Cops have to think, would you just want an animal to bite you?

  5. We all feel terrible that the K9 was killed. The only consolation is that both thugs were killed too.
Thank you officers for keeping America safe !!!

  6. This was a really bad Gulag Strat, man’s used the ground as a holster and tried an ol’fashioned quick draw on a ready ar15

  7. They always reach for it. “perpetrator?… What are you doing?… Hmm? *looks nervously as police officer as he slowly reaches for it

  8. May sound odd but before watching any videos I first read the description. If any idiot that does something bad enough to get deleted, but survives, I don’t watch.

  9. But seriously, who the hell commits a crime in any Tesla, stolen or otherwise? Your very own or whoever’s Tesla that is will provide the state with all the evidence it needs from its multiple GPS, Cellular and cameras to put you away. These new cars snitch on you.
