Rock-Throwing Dispute: Hotel Incident Ends in Arrest

#CrimeCamNow
In a dramatic turn of events, a domestic dispute at a hotel in Atlanta escalated into property damage and resulted in the arrest of a young woman. On August 1, 2022, Chamblee police officers responded to a call from Quality Inn hotel regarding a heated argument between a couple.

Upon arrival, the officer was greeted by an employee who expressed a desire for the couple to leave the premises. The officer then encountered a distraught young woman in the lobby, who claimed to be 20 years old. She explained that she had spent the night with her 40-year-old boyfriend and simply wanted to leave peacefully. However, her boyfriend allegedly took her phone and struck her during the altercation.

Shortly after, the male counterpart joined the conversation, asserting that the phone in question belonged to him. He accused the young woman of breaking his car windshield and disputed her claim of being assaulted. According to him, he asked her to discuss it over a meal and insisted that if she wanted to end their relationship, she could not take his phone with her.

As the couple continued to argue in the lobby, the officer decided to speak with the young woman outside to gain a better understanding of the situation. Despite her repeated assertions of being assaulted, the boyfriend reminded the officer that he had no issue with her leaving, but wanted her to be held accountable for the damage inflicted on his windshield.

The officer requested assistance in reviewing the hotel’s surveillance footage. Meanwhile, the officer documented the damage to the windshield, capturing photographs as evidence. Upon reviewing the footage, the assisting officer confirmed that the young woman had indeed thrown a large rock, causing the windshield to shatter.

In light of the evidence, the officer made the difficult decision to arrest the young woman. She was charged with criminal trespass and damage to the property, reflecting the consequences of her actions during the altercation.
