On July 16, 2023, FCSO received a report of a black Mercedes that had traveled into the wrong lane and nearly caused a head-on collision in Palm coast, Florida.
deputies located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop.the vehicle did not stop until it had reached AdventHealth-Palm Coast and parked near the Emergency Room.
The driver was identified as Michael Alfonso, 48, a habitual drunk driver. Alfonso was uncooperative and appeared extremely intoxicated.
Worried about his wellbeing, EMS was called to the scene to assess Alfonso’s condition. Fortunately, his vitals checked out, and he was cleared for further action.
He was taken to the emergency room in a wheelchair from the traffic stop to be checked for any medical conditions by deputies.
Alfonso was arrested for Felony D.U.I. (4th D.U.I. – 3 Prior Convictions) and 2 counts of Failure to Obey Law Enforcement.
