Broken Arrow, Oklahoma — On Sunday, December 3, 2023, around 8:00pm, Broken Arrow Police officers responded to a residential area located in the 8000 Block of Willow Springs in reference to a call for service. Officers located 54-year-old Troy Anspaw’s vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. He did not respond to officers’ commands. He ultimately exited the vehicle armed with a gun and shots were fired by officers. Broken Arrow Police has not said whether or not the suspect fired at police but does say Anspaw pointed the gun at officers. Officers immediately rendered first aid. Anspaw was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The incident remains under investigation. Three officers involved with the incident, per department policy, have been placed on administrative leave.
