On August 19, 2022, Chamblee police officers responded to a call at Gravity Auto Dealership in Chamblee, Georgia, regarding two individuals attempting to purchase a Mercedes AMG using fake identification. As officers arrived on the scene, the suspects hastily exited their vehicle and made a run for it in opposite directions.
One officer immediately gave chase on foot, pursuing one of the suspects. The foot chase didn’t last long, as the suspect quickly ran out of breath and was apprehended. He was subsequently returned to the dealership for further investigation.
Upon examination, officers uncovered that both individuals had been attempting to buy a Mercedes AMG using fraudulent identification from New York. A cross-reference with the dealership’s records revealed a stark contrast in age between the genuine car buyer and the apprehended suspect.
As a result, the suspect was charged with obstruction, identity fraud, and forgery in the first degree.
