Buffalo, New York — On Saturday, February 24, 2024, around 10:00 a.m. Buffalo Police officers responded to a report of a man with a gun on the 100 block of Reed Street. Upon arrival officers encountered 58-year-old Edward Holmes, and he had a shotgun and fit the exact description from the report. The first two police cars that arrived stopped about 50 feet away from where Holmes was and the officers took cover behind their car doors. Officers told Holmes numerous times to drop his weapon, but he fired it instead. Officers returned fire after Holmes raised the gun a second time.

Holmes was struck two times, once in the chest and once in the arm. Officers on the scene rendered aid until the Buffalo Fire Department and AMR arrived, but Holmes was pronounced dead at the scene. The two officers who fired their weapons were identified by Buffalo Police as Joshua Slupinski, a five-year veteran, and Andrew Lewis, who has been with the department for 18 months. A total of 20 rounds were fired between the two Officers. Officer Slupinski fired 14 rounds and Officer Lewis fired six rounds. It was determined that Holmes was the person who placed the original 911 call.

  1. And that's why you have a long gun. Not only to hit the suspect quicker at distances over 7 yards, but to not fling bullets into the neighborhood every time you miss. None of the officers had one out, so perhaps Buffalo chose to "demilitarize" their police by getting rid of the long guns; if so, the people who pushed for that put that whole neighborhood and the officers in unnecessary danger.

  2. How do you shoot at something 20 times from 30 feet and only hit said thing twice. Those two cops are a danger to the public.

  3. That would be suicide by cop.
So you have how many officers on the scene? The man fires a shotgun and only two officers shooted him? And one basically emptied his magazine. And they hit him twice?
So what that tells me is that the officer that fired 14 times was shooting emotionally and scared. He's probably the same officer screaming shots fired over and over again. As I've said before, that is probably someone who is not built to be law enforcement. I also couldn't tell where the man fired the shotgun. Did he fire it twice into the ground and never point it at the officers? If so, that makes this a little iffy. Someone who's built mentally to be a police officer won't fire until the deadly threat presents itself. A shotgun being pointed at the ground and fired isn't necessarily a deadly threat.
Law enforcement officers might want to stop assisting people and killing themselves if they can avoid it. If there's any question about an officer's life being in jeopardy, then the officer must win that gun fight in the bad guy must go down. No two ways about it. But if someone is trying to scare the police into shooting them, we need officers who don't scare so easily. In the past few videos I've seen we have some very terrified people running around with badges and guns. That's no good. Just like that church shooting where the two female officers hid the entire time as the gunman was firing shots. If you are unwilling to put your life at risk to save an innocent life than you have no business being in law enforcement

  4. I remeber a Christy Mooore life concert. Before he started his song he said "Every day you come home in one piece is a good day." That's it. Police act, Paragraph 1: Come home in one piece.

  5. I wonder how many times officers have nightmares and see the victims face from when they administered cpr and stare at them in the face.

  6. Pretty much sure it was him by phone call witness. Don't know what Dispatch thought. It was handled well. Many cannot shoot themselves and put it on another. Much more common today for me in witness born in 1950.

  7. I hate when cops constantly scream obscenities. “Drop the fuckin gun!!”. He’s already shooting at you I don’t think you yelling fuck at him will scare him. Just unprofessional

  8. Why in the hell is the cop with the teen boy voice yelling the entire shooting instead of focusing on landing his shots on the suspect.

  9. When you are a coward that needs other involved in trauma, PoS. Fee bad for the officers in this assisted Susie…

  10. The most people there are play those playground and people always play like hide and seek and most people don't understand what they're doing there and never played that I was like coming now leave me alone I was going to go in the house and

  11. Yelling to roll away from the gun reminds me of robocop, "You're reading rights to a corpse." If surprised that the guy dead only 2 of 20 rounds hit the guy. Buffalo residents may catch strays in the future with these officers around.

  12. Now the family wants answers SMH now I guess they got them is it sad, yes but you can't go out in the streets holding and firing any gun of any type let alone at the police, and after police screamed countless times drop the gun drop the gun prayers to the family and friends but this was 100% justifiable end of discussion

  13. Most people play hainman because they don't wait to choose to live for the other people they just be on wrong with their other life Don Handman
