#CrimeCamNow
On April 21st, 2023, Chamblee police were called to an apartment complex in Chamblee,Ga, after reports of an aggressive male threatening neighbors with a gun.
Officers evacuated nearby apartments and approached the suspect’s door.
Initially, the suspect refused to come out, distrustful of the police.
Thankfully, another officer who knew the suspect arrived at the scene and was able to convince him to step outside and explain his side of the story.
The suspect claimed the neighbors’ son, not him, was the one making threats.
Officers interviewed several witnesses, and all of them confirmed that the suspect was the one seen brandishing a firearm.
Based on these witness statements, officers obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s apartment.
As a safety precaution, the officers detained the suspect and placed him in handcuffs while they continued their investigation.
While searching the apartment, officers only found a magazine and holster for a gun, but no actual weapon.
Considering the possibility that the suspect might have discarded the gun, officers searched the wooded area near the apartment windows.
Officers were able to locate a gun matching the description provided by witnesses.
This evidence, along with witness statements, led to the suspect being charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and theft by receiving stolen property.
The suspect was then transported to Dekalb County Jail.
