On November 2, 2023, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Deputy observed a speeding Kia SUV making illegal pass in Big Pine Key, Florida. the deputy initiated a traffic stop.
The driver, later identified as 67-year-old Walter Frank Camp, caught the deputy’s attention with an open Bud Light and the unmistakable odor of m******na emanating from the vehicle.
Camp, seemingly intoxicated, attempted to explain that another vehicle forced him into oncoming traffic.
Requested to undergo a field sobriety test, he refused, leading to his arrest for DUI.

While searching the vehicle, the deputy found approximately 51 grams of illegal edibles. Camp claimed these were medicinal and legal.

As the conversation progressed, Camp started threatening the deputy and his family.
He later claimed to be a sniper, boasting about his ability to kill anybody from 1500 yards away.
Subsequently, deputies contacted the rental company, uncovering that the Kia had been reported stolen out of Blaine, Washington.
During transportation to Monroe County jail, he continued to threaten the dog, the deputy, and the deputy’s family.
